Default Breakage

Hello, I am really interested in getting a keratin treatment done, not sure what brand yet though. I am a 3b and would like to kind of see what experiences you have all had. More than anything I want to know the likelihood of damaging my hair. So I included a minor poll regarding damage. Thanks in advance for your help!

Just so you know, I voted none, and I've probably BKT'd more than anyone on this board, except for AphroDiva, and I'm pretty sure her vote would be none as well.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. I guess I'm a scared mess since I haven't yet done any of these treatments and am trying to weigh one vs. the other. Have you tried the Brazilian Blowout? What about BKT vs Coppola? And just today I heard about the Coppola Express blowout. Yeah I'm confused :P

Hi Zeusie. I voted "none" too. But I have noticed that the hair that's growing in - both the new hairs from where I've shed in the normal growth cycle and the roots of the rest of my hair - is getting frizzy. Which looks kind of funny next to the sleekness of the BKT-d hair, but not too bad.

All in all I had a good experience. But for $300 plus tip, it's a one-time thing for me. If you do have one, be extra sure that your stylist is very experienced in the procedure and is keeping up with all of the constant controversies. Don't skimp - no "special 1/2 off" or other "deals" where the stylist has to do too many treatments to make it profitable. You get what you pay for!

I only do my own BKTs and have only used QOD Max and QOD Gold--currently using Gold. I would never do the Brazilian Blowout or the Coppola because I've heard too many conflicting, disturbing reviews/reports of both. QOD ain't broke, so I ain't tryin' to fix it! I prefer to DIY for obvious reasons--cost, better control of the results. QOD also "allegedly" has one of the lowest concentrations of formaldehyde. Best of luck with whatever you decide!
