Need help picking a treatment

Hi ... I've been lurking on this board for the past week - trying to find good, first hand reviews on which of the 'brazilian blowout' treatments I should get.

I have curly (spiral type) hair - can't figure out if I'm a type 2 c or 3a/b ... but I have really long hair, so the curls are only defined if I shower, let it air dry and only the bottom half of my hair will be curly - if I had short hair, I'm sure it will be curly.

I straighten my hair about 95% of the time, and the blowdry/straightening takes me 35 minutes each morning :( I'm concidering getting this treatment done ...but am confused about the different types of this product. From what I gather Coopla ? is the best ?

IF so, if this is the most highly recommended, how do I find a salon that offers this brand? I live in a small town, so I'd have to go to the city to do it, just wondering if I should call around, and ask 'what straightening services do you offer?' ... I guess the Brazilian Blowout seems to be the worst brand?! I've had so many stylists want to do that on my hair as I'm apparently the 'perfect candidate' ?

I'm sorry, this is not even remotely helpful to getting your question answered, but I have to ask - is your username referencing the Joss Whedon series?

ME TOO! Haha.

Also, I suppose this is the part where I vaguely reference my horrible keratin experience, but concede that your hair sounds extremely different from mine.

no no please do share your experience :) ... That's why I'm here, to hear good and bad :)

I found this guys' site in my seraches (trying to find someone local that does these treatments)

Does one called KERASPA (which he says is the best) KeraSpa Vancouver BC Canada - Did you love Brazilian Blowout and Cadiveu then try KeraSpa by Raigen

Haven't heard of it before checking his site...

Love meeting fellow Browncoats!

I found a place locally that offers KERASTRAIGHT - anyone heard of that?

Well....I had a keratin treatment done OVER a "normal" relaxer after a few months to straighten the new growth and get me away from what is so (not!) affectionately called the "creamy crack." Now, I had not voluntarily relaxed to begin with (long story), so that definitely caused unneccessary bitterness towards the entire process, but after a relaxer in August 09, and keratin treatments (I don't remember the brand, unfortunately) in November 09 and March 10, I was forced to do a BC to try to grow out naturally. And my hair was, once again, about 2 inches long. So...in my experience, it didn't wash out, and it definitely damaged my hair, which it's not supposed to do. But I'm a 3c, so I was much curlier to begin with than it sounds like you are.

I've had both the Coppola Keratin Treatment and the Brazilian Blowout Treatment. The Coppola was really good, but it only lasted on me for 2 months, probably because I wash it daily. Also, I had no frizz - a big plus. My hair is naturally wavy/curly - 2b/c. My hair was about a 2a after the treatment.

I just got the Brazilian Blowout done 2 weeks ago, and my hair is poker straight!! I never thought I'd say this, but it's almost too straight!! But, the great thing is that I can just let it air-dry and I'll get a little beachy-wave with no frizz!!

I liked both treatments, but my hair seems much straighter with the BB.

Also, I had the Keratin Smooth done back in April. It was terrible. It left my hair more curly and frizzy than ever.

I think you should definitely call around and ask. My hair stylist (who I love and trust) really recommends the BB. It's a lot easier than the Keratin in that you don't have to wait the 3 days after you have it done to wash it. Just an fyi - my hair is very fine and kind of thin. Hair type and texture also play a role in how well the treatment that you choose works.

Good luck!!

I've had kerastraight done in the uk and found it amazing! It contains no nasty chemicals and made my hair like a new head of hair! I have 3a I think?? And it left it frizz free and gently relaxed my natural
Curls bit they were still 70% there when diffused and when ruff dried it was a soft wave and blow drying straight was cut from 1 hour to 15mins! Iv had some highlights through the top of my hair which made it a lil dry and kerastraight sorted that. The salon said the worse condition your hair is on the better it works! If you would like some pics I can post them. Hope this helps.

Keraspa

I just had a Keraspa treatment done last week. I purchased a coupon from dealfind for Minhee in Yaletown. My hair feels great, it does get oily fast but I think that is because it's wavy/straight. The entire process took 2 hours. I think the straightening part with the iron was done quicker than it should have been done. I came home and noticed at the base of my neck I still had some waves. It doesnt bother me too much because I can just blowdry my hair and fix a few sections quickly with a straightening iron.

I had done permanent straightening at home almost a year and a half ago and ruined my loose curls :( I ended up with sections of straight hair and sections of wavy hair. I paid ~$120 for my treatment. I'm not sure how long it will last I was told 3-4 months. The price I paid is worth it to much, but I dont know if I would pay anymore for that. Hope this helps!
