The new QOD max Organiq vs. the old formula

Like Tree2Likes

Hi Guys,
I've been a long time reader and since I've benefited so much from your stories I thought it's time I contribute. Nothing major, I just wanted to put in my two cents for the new formulation of Qod.
To begin, I'm a 3c, but I've blowdried my hair pretty much since I was 13 (I'm 25 now), having it curly was a nightmare it would quickly become unmanageble and all over the place. I never relaxed, and with trepidation finally jumped into keratin
I started with the coppolla which gave amazing results, but resulted in riiiidiculous shedding, I mean long strands in clumps. It also faded in 3 months and cost me a good chunk of change.
After reading through these threads, I ventured to do it on my own and settled on Qod max, really liked it, less shedding (my hair is just a weakling, it'll shed if I walk near a box of hair dye). The only thing is the coppola smelled better than Qod, and for me gave straighter results than qod. I did Qod max a total of three times, one of which was just a root application.
Now because of the cumulative nature of BKT, i needed to do it less often, by the time I got aorund to buying a new bottle, there was no more Qod max and now there's this organiq stuff. As keratin4u explained in another post, the orginal formula had something like 0.02% formaldehyde and this stuff has nada.

I just finished applying it, it feels different-- for example I didnt even use gloves, I didn;t need to. The fumes no longer gave me a cough or stinging eyes, and the feel of it is more watery,
I like that you only have to keep it on for 5 minutes, and that the smell i sless pungent. That being said, I have to go to overnight shift and wont have time to wash it now so I'll leave it on for 24 hours.

I'll let you guys know what happens, my honest feeling is this new non-formaldehyde stuff is gonna be a weakling. Also, just an fyi, if you get the shot and have long or thick hair, you'll run out-- it's a much smaller bottle than appears in the picture.
zalim likes this.

Ugh, after reading your post, I got out my new unopened bottle of QOD Gold and then went to qodusa.com and discovered that it is also now labeled "organiq" even though the bottle does not state this. How did I miss this??? Then, I compared the ingredients to those on my original QOD Gold bottle, and they are very different, with water being the first ingredient on the new bottle. I don't have a good feeling about this.... I specifically rushed out and bought another bottle of the Gold because I thought that the formaldehyde-containing formulas were going to be banned here in the USA soon, not that the company was going to stop all together making them with formaldehyde, and I wanted to scoop one up before it was too late.

Wow, now I'm curious to see how your hair turns out. I still have about 1/3 of my original Gold bottle left, so I won't open the new one until probably the end of next year. I'm going to be devastated if this stuff doesn't work. It's the only way I've been able to make peace with my hair, which, by the way, is OBSCENELY fine and fragile. Like yours, my hair breaks and sheds at the slightest breeze, yet I have little-to-no shedding with QOD. I've been having the most *phenomenal* hair days for the past week. I can't imagine my hair not looking like this anymore.
OK, I admit it.....I'm an alias! I wasn't born with the name Honeycurls!
Dood, get over it; there's no time limit on lurking.

I so busy runnin' allllllll over the place and ain't nobody chasin' me!
So as i expected, this one's a weakling.

Also, funny aside, they now call it a Masq.

Hi Everyone

I am the owner of Keratin 4 U and the importer of QOD products from Brazil. I was reading the posts in regards to the new formula and wanted to clarify a few things.
The QOD Gold was always labeled as Alquimist mask. The new formulas for Gold and MAX are actually selling much more than the formulas with aldehyde.
The new formula will give a more natural look to the hair. The shine and softness of the hair is great. I have been using QOD products ever since I started my business and I have used our original formulas and also our new OrganiQ and KeraPremium formulas. I prefer much more the new formulas because there's no strong fumes, and my hair feels more natural. I have wave hair with highlights and I receive compliments about my hair everyday on how shinny it is.

Any questions you might have call us at the office monday thru friday 1800 7311830.

Thank you

Claudia

Hello,

I'm a 3c and I've been BKT'ing since April 2009. I've used so many brands it's insane but my favorite HANDS DOWN is QOD. With QOD Max (regular) I get bone straight hair which was fun at first but I started missing my curly hair.

I used QOD Max Organiq in Sept 2011 and I was very pleased. My hair was defrizzed, was still resistant to humidity but I was able to retain some curl. I only did 2-3 passes at about 400 degrees. This is my fav new treatment. I've been using QOD for about 2 years now and it can't be topped, imo.

I'm really, really freaked out that my hair will not respond to this new formula, especially since you said Max original made your hair bone straight--which it never did for me. I've seen both good and bad reviews about the Organiq, but I guess I have no choice since I'm stuck with a huge new bottle of this stuff and no way to buy the original formula anymore.

Any treatment with Aldehyde for Formeldahyde straightens my hair no matter how small the percentage. Even that Organix brand did purchased from CVS (NOT to be confused with Organiq). :P

I have a huge 33oz bottle QOD Max Orginial if you want to do an exchange. I've only used it 2 times. I really want the Organiq one I don't care if it's Gold or Max.

I would probably take enough out of my bottle for a couple of applications, too, because I really would like to try it and see just how effective it would be on my hair. I'll weigh my bottle after I do that so you'd know exactly how much you would be getting. Plus, there's almost a $60 difference in the price between Gold and Max. How would you want to handle that?

I have the Organix shampoo from CVS, which I use every couple of months, but I'd never even bother with the treatment. I can hear my hair laughing an evil laugh at just the thought of it.

hey guys, I'm the original poster on this thread but forgot the password to that username

Anyway, so here I am a few weeks out and I would say I see some definite pluses, and a huge minus.

I'll start with the huge negative. I have 3c pretty frizz and tangle prone hair. The original formula's small straightening action helped settle that down enough so I could do wash and go's with heavy leave in conditioner. That was life changing for me. With the organiq formula, I tried that right after the first application but it didn't work like it usually does.. my roots remained unruly, and frizz was ever present.

So I'm relegated to my old blow drying routine. I will admit that with this new formula drying time is still reduced, frizzing AFTER blow drying and some straighter action on my bangs is significantly reduced. And finally, if I straighten my whole hair it is sleek and pretty. On the other hand, I still had some residual straightening effect from my prior original QOD application, so that probably contributed.

In conclusion, I agree with keratin4u, it is quite a nice natural look. I also think this is a great solution for those that are always wanting a mild treatment and nothing to change their curls-- THIS IS the answer for those.

For those of us who's hair is too crazy for this small warrior, I think it would've been a great sort of in-between applications solution. As in, original QOD every 6 or 8 months, and this organiq mask in between.

Maybe it's time to look into another brand because life-changing also describes what QOD has done for me as well and I can't imagine going back to life before BKT.

i'm right there with you. not sure what i'm gonna do after this fades out.
i'm going to have to start looking into other brands, its unfortunate because i loved qod's effect on my hair and no shedding.
Hi Everyone

Dont panic. I will have great news mid January. We will have the formula as Kerapremium professional. Just send me an email.

She also said that the original formulas don't have formaldehyde???? My Max did for sure, because it was listed on the bottle.

Please help....

I'd like to know more too! I have a little of the old formula left but don't want to spend $$$ on a new formula that doesn't work. I've tried the Organix brand and it did nothing for my hair after the first wash. I don't mind keeping some curl but I want the frizz under control.

I wonder if we can order directly from Brazil like before this stuff was being distributed by US companies?

Hi Honeycurls

We at Keratin 4 U are the largest QOD importers in the USA. I dont know who has a tag as QODCosmetic but I am assuming is the manufacturer directly from Brazil. The new system that will come out in January will not be available for the public, only exclusively to hair salons. Its the same OrganiQ formula but designed a bit different.

The original formula did have aldehyde compounds and I apologize that the person got you confused. Kerapremium is formaldehyde free. We will have a KeraPremium professional coming out soon. Send me an email any questions keratin4u@gmail.com
