Default I think keratin did not take?

Hi,

I have somewhere between 3c and 4 hair. Big, tight curls...frizz....I had a keratin treatment back in early April. From the first time I washed my hair (3 days after) it remained basically the same kind of tight curl when washed. I cannot straighten it with just a blow dryer and have to iron it. I asked a lot of people (without actually going back to the salon) and they said it should make it easier to straighten and less frizzy. My sister was over this weekend, and she has similar hair to mine, and has the treatment. Her hair was basically straight after washing.

It's definitely less frizzy, but it takes me 30-40 minutes to do my hair. It's a little longer than my shoulders. I'm now thinking that I would have the same result by straight ironing my hair without having paid close to $400 for the treatment.

I'm going to head over to the salon today to see what they say. I purposely left my hair curly. There is literally no difference if I allow it to air dry.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you SO MUCH.

I think you've left it far too long to complain, hair can sometimes revert if you use the wrong products, the salon has no way of knowing what you have been doing these past eight weeks or so.

I've used only the products they've recommended and I bought from them. Of course I can't prove it. I agree that I've waited too long to talk to them about it and I'm willing to pay for it to be redone, but is it supposed to be like this, or does it sound like it didn't take at all? I don't want to waste my time and money.

Everyone doesn't get the same result, depends on how strong your curl pattern is 3c/ 4a is pretty strong. If you want bone straight then a chemical relaxer is the the answer.

My worry would be that keratin 'treatments' are damaging, as is blow drying followed by flat ironing, at some point you risk badly damaging your hair which could make it increasingly frizzy. Have you tried heat free methods like wet wrapping? You may still have to flat iron lightly, but that is a lot less heat than half an hour to forty minutes. Flat ironing must be done on bone dry hair or you risk damage like 'bubble hair'.

Just to close the topic...the salon owner called and said they're going to do it over for free. The person that I talked to when I went to the salon today said it definitely should not look how it looks.

Thank you for your input. Very much appreciated.
