did a keriten treatment in 2011 its 2014 where are my curls?

Okay so I have had one hell of a hair journey in the past 5 years. I'm going to try to make the story as short as possible but I like to talk a lot lol.

alright the first picture is with me with all black hair is from 2009 when I was a freshman in high school my hair was just about untouched except for the fact that I had recently just dyed it back to black from being a medium brown. That's when I first started dying my hair.

the second picture is right after I came back from Brazil in the summer of 2011. I had got the kerintin in treatment done to my hair to make it as straight as possible so I didn't have to deal with taking 4 1/2 to 5 hours to straighten my hair. Worst mistake I could have ever made was doing that stupid thing to my hair.

the third picture is I would say about July or August of 2012. I had just moved in with my new boyfriend at the time and even though my hair was very damaged, I still decided to dye it try making it look better because the curls still wasn't as good as they used to be. So I tried washing out the kerintin treatment it was curlyish but it wasn't back to its full potential.

I believe it was the first day of February or the last week of January of 2013 that my boyfriend had cut off all of my hair all the way up to my shoulders I would say it was less than a half of a inch above my shoulders . he cut off all the dead ends i was just fed up and I wanted to fix my hair instead of having it damaging I wanted my curls back.

The 4th picture is me I believe a few weeks ago I had washed my hair brushed it in the shower and let it air dry and it dries straight now I have a little wave that grows in from the roots but it's definitely not my curls from back in the day

Now here I am in 2014 with my hair not even close to how long I used to be before I cut it but its not even close to how curly it used to be either. There was a point that I was just so fed up with my hair that I was going to just keep it straight in deal with it but curly hair is how I feel my best I think I look my best with curly hair so if anybody can tell me what I can do at home to get my curls back to how it used to be please let me know I still want to dye my hair different colors but I know that I have to pick one color and stick with it before I can start to fix my hair so that is what I'm going to do but what can I do at home like I know my aunt used to put mayonnaise and avocados and her hair but it really hasn't done anything to it except make it shiny lol I want my girls to come back to how they used to be in the first picture I rather take 2 hours to style and do my hair then go out and not feel pretty at all. Help...

Also i was recently diagnosed with lupus in october 2013 does that have an effect on my hair? Or my meds effect my hair? Not that i take them lol its predisone and plaquinil but generics

Thanks in advanced ladies

Yes lupus could make you lose your curls.

Your lack of curls can also be effected by the medication you take to control the lupus and the fact that medication mucks up the absorption of micronutrients.

So all in all you have 3 factors that could contribute to your loss of curls.

Oh and take your medication. A healthier functioning body is worth more than having curly hair or any hair at all.
Hi love,

1st, please take you're medication. Lupus is serious and can be fatal if left untreated. Hair loss is a common side effect of Lupus and sometimes from the medicine as well. If hair loss is caused by medication, you may have to wait until your lupus is under control to treat the hair loss. Hopefully you won't experience that but it's good to know just in case. Also, do not take over the counter meds for hair loss without your doctor knowing.

2nd. We have the same hair pattern and I had a brazilian keratin treatment done in 2011 and it was the worse mistake ever. After it wore out, my hair was left stringy straight with a small wave pattern. So what I did to get my hair back was:

1. Stayed away from heat.

2. I followed the rules to the book CurlyGirl and stayed away from sulfate hair products.

3. Every other day I made a deep conditioning protein mask (olive oil, honey, mayonnaise, one egg, coconut oil" I left it in for about 1 hour then washed it out following a leave in conditioner.

4. Every night before bed, I would mix up and put olive oil, honey and coconut oil in my hair then made medium size twists or braids.

5. I never brushed or combed my hair dry.

6. I always kept a conditioner in my hair to keep it hydrated

Once my curls started reverting back I would cut off the loose straight ends that were weighing down my curls. I hope this helps you like it helped me

I agree, I hate taking medicine because it makes me feel like crap. Try talking with the doctor about it. Maybe it's not a good combination for you and they can switch something up.

I never heard of that cream before but if you look it up on Amazon or YouTube you can look at some reviews Hope you feel better ♥
