Coppola Keratin Treatment

hello everyone Im new to this thread...and I NEED ADVISE from you ladies!!! so here's the deal, ive been reading on ur threads about how great this coppola treatment is...my hairdresser wants me to try it but im sooo scared! I have 3b hair, very fine and it seems to easily break! i dont have much hair at all and im sooo scared that my hair will completely break off or worse, that i'll go bald!! I have got to have the weirdest hair ever, my hair is curly from the roots then halfway down, its just, straight! but weird frizzy straight! even my hairdresser thinks its weird! anyways...anyone out there has noticed significant breakage after getting this done and has similar hair like mine?? there has to be someone out there!! Should I just go for it??
I had the Coppola Keratin Treatment done at Ulta - I had a Frederik Fekkai blowout a few weeks ago and the girl did an AMAZING job (I've never found anyone who could get my hair as straight as I could!) She recommended the Coppola Treatment, and I had it done on Sunday and was finally able to wash my hair tonight - other than using too much product tonight, I LOVE IT - I'm going to have to get used to not using as much product. It air dried almost curl-free (that has NEVER happened before!) and I just shook it under the blow dryer and flat ironed. It took all of 5 minutes where it used to take me 30+ minutes to get it straight. AMAZING!!! It feels great, really soft and shiny.

When I had it done, it took about three hours. The smell isn't bad, it smelled almost like a nutty coffee. My eyes burned EVER SO SLIGHTLY when she was flat ironing (they use this great flat iron that Coppola makes exclusively for this treatment that's 450 degrees, and she said you can't even buy it anywhere although I would love to find one!) It had almost mirrored plates. I imagine they don't sell it because if used incorrectly, it might burn your hair? Anyway, I get that same SLIGHT eye burning when I get my hair colored or highlighted. I live in NC and it's SO HUMID here, especially now, and I just wanted to get rid of the frizz so I could possibly wear it curly and actually like it ... I haven't done it curly yet obviously but if I can wear it STRAIGHT in this humidity, I'd like it even BETTER! I have long, curly/kinky/frizzy hair that I've been cursed with and have fought it my entire life, and I HAVE NOW FOUND MY VICE!! I would have no problem doing this every 3-4 months, and my hair is NOT virgin - I highlighted about 5 years ago and then went back to dark brown and color (either at the salon or myself with Clairol Perfect 10 at home.) DO NOT CONFUSE THIS with the Brazilian Blowout, it's NOT the same thing, that one uses formeldahyde I believe? The WORST PART for me, with three young children, was not being able to pull it back for three days, but I did it! Not washing it for 72 hours was no problem, I do that sometimes without the keratin treatment (-: I bought the Coppola Keratin Complex shampoo, conditioner and flat iron spray, too. Just follow the rules and you'll love it to!!!!
Soooooo, I had my first wash on Monday at the salon. Wash, dryed, and hair straight (with NO PRODUCT and minimum flat iron) and eyebrows waxed, and I was outta there in about 35 mins!!! I was so excited. BUT then, I had this nagging feeling in the back of my head that said, "oh you know its not going to be like this for you at home. Stylist, know what they're doing and can always make you look amazing." So I was still skeptical........UNTIL TODAY!!!

I washed, dryed and did minimal flat ironing in 10 minutes!!! I couldnt believe it!!! I am so excited. This treatment is the best thing that I have ever did!! <--------thats what my hair looked like before the treatment, lol!!

Anyone that is thinking about it, needs to just stop and do it!!

Momofthree & rymaks -

I'm so happy you both like it. Isn't it great? I wake up everyday feeling like a new person!!

The only thing I do differently is that I don't have to flatiron my hair anymore. I think that that alone is worth the price.

Hey guys,
I'm getting this treatment and I'm pretty nervous. I have 3c hair, never relaxed or did anything chemically thanks to mom hovering over my hair for years. Now I'm in grad school and simply cannot afford the hours of blowdrying and flat ironing for special occasions (I don't wear it curly because it's just.. madness).
I too am afraid it'll just break off.

Anyone recommend any shampoo? I know coppola has its own, but I heard about pureology too.. any insight. I don't wanna break the bank any further.
trevelyana,

I use the Coppola Keratin Complex (Smoothing Therapy) Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner. But, I noticed that my hair started really looking and feeling oily by the end of the day (and my hair is usually never oily). (I wash it everyday - probably a no-no). So, now I've been alternating the Coppola with Nature's Gate Orange Mandarin & Giovanni TTTT. It seems to look better. I think that the Coppola is just too heavy for my hair type, so I only use it about 2 times a week and rotate it with the others.

I never used the Pureology, so I don't know what that is like.

Just make sure you buy a shampoo that is sodium chloride-free.

Hi, I a getting a Coppola Keratin treatment on Saturday and I am extremely nervous! I totally trust my hairdresser....she has hair even curlier than mine and she is the one who told me about Keratin when I commented how great her hair looked. I am really worried because I have hair that is color treated and has been tortured and even now that I have really been trying to give it a rest for the last 2 years (no straigthening, no blow drier) it seems to still easily break. My daily use of Moroccan Oil helps to smooth it out but if I didn't use quality products it would look like a bale of hay when it dried. I know Keratin will actually create the best results on damages hair but I have seen some scary articles/posts about girls who got this done and had their damaged ends really stand out. I do plan to get a hair cut the same day my hairdresser rinses me out. Has anyone with damaged/stressed hair had this done????
This will actually help your hair. It has made my hair feel like silk!! Don't worry.

I use the Coppola color treated hair shampoo & conditioner. I love it. The conditioner makes my hair feel smoother then any other one ever has. I am not sure about Pureology. I never looked into any alternative shampoos & conditioners for the fact that I didn't want to use anything else, other then what was recommended. Because my luck, I would use something other then the Coppola stuff and it would ruin the keratin tx.

If you find out more about Pureology, post. I would like to know about it.

Thanks
Has anyone had the Coppola Keratin treatment done and NOT waited three days to wash it? Thanks!
Ludioss@gmail.com and ask me questions, I know all about this!

^__^ hey.
i was just wondering how much does the treatment cost now? still around ~300$?

thanks a bunch
Soooo I just got this done. HOLY lord it took forever.
I'm not loving the feel of it right now, its a pretty heavy film, and I have coarse hair that usually can take a lot of product. Immediately after blowdrying with the product, I don't feel any difference (in fact a bit worse because of the hard shampooing and no conditioning).
I'll update after my wash.

Anyone kept it on longer than the three days?
Like the website and my stylist said to do, I colored my hair before I had the treatment. It's suppose to last longer by sealing in the color. Now, its time again to color my hair, but not time for another treatment. Has anyone colored their hair in between treatments?
hi!

*I got the treatment last Friday afternoon. Prior to it, I had between a 3a & b ( little tighter curls than 3a) and is half way down my back. I have gone from my natural blonde to dark brunette and back again over the last year or so, leaving my hair extra frizzy, fried and dead. After a lot of debating I decided to to the Blow Out but my stylist thought the Coppola would be better.
*It took me and 1 1/2 hours for the treatment. The treatment cost me 215 plus shampoo. I didn't really have an issue with the formaldehyde, it just stung a little when she did my bangs. I did mine at an Aveda so I bought their Shampure though I may buy a Keratin Shampoo for rotation. My hair felt like SILK and about 75% of my split ends vanished. Waiting 72 hours with no clips, headbands or ponytails was TORTURE ... and my head felt greasy from the keratin. 72 hours on the nose later I shampoo-ed my hair and I felt the difference when it was wet; much softer and silkier.
* I dried my hair curly because I was scared to lose my curl. My hair is for sure MUCH less curly than it was before the treatment, now it's a beach wave really. I expected my hair to be a lot shinier to be honest. Even though I lost roughly 50-75% of my frizz I expected more I guess. I expected Taylor Swift like hair. Today I blow dried my hair and it took me no joke 5 minutes where it used to take me 35 for an awful, lionesque job.( I have no patience for blow drying usually I just let it dry in braids overnight and flat iron it ) Today it was 1/5 of the volume and much smoother. I ran a flat iron through it without sectioning it and it looked like a professional blow out! Just enough body but a good deal of shine.
Pros" [:[/I] * drastically reduced frizz
* re-vived damaged hair to a super
healthy state
* drying time is MUCH less
* Lions mane volume tamed
Cons: * Not enough shine

Final Verdict: While my hair no longer feels like wirey straw attached to my head & I don't think I wasted my money, I expected a much more drastic change to my hair. I'm going to see if my stylist will do it a 2nd time for improved results. I recommend it just for the healthy feeling I've gotten back in my hair
I have done the TR for the past 4 years. I just heard about the keratin complex by coppola last week. Is it okay to have had the TR done a year ago and I dye my hair a few times a year? Anyone else? My hair is in pretty good condition. I am also very scared about the aldehydes and the long term effects. Anyone else afraid of what this may do down the road to your health?

Best thing I have ever had done!
I only used the Coppola shampoo and conditioner the entire time, and I did not put a single other product in my hair the entire time either! Which is unheard of for me.
I don't think the hair gets "greasy" I think it is just a different texture we aren't used to, it just falls differently and separates into strands more easily. My hair would get drier and frizzier the longer I didn't wash it, now it doesn't do that and I think many of you are mistaking that for greasy hair, which it isn't.

I had mine dyed a few days before each treatment and I can honestly say I have not noticed any breakage.
I also left the treatment on for 4 full days before washing it for the first time.
At first I barely needed to roll a brush through it to get it to be perfectly straight, then as the weeks went by I had to gradually do more and more to get it straight, but it was still worth it because it would stay the way I styled it and not be a big ball of fuzz by the time I got to work.
Thanks for the info. I think I am going to do it soon. What is strange is that I also have thinning frizzy hair. Someone recommended I need products with a certain type of iodine. nuLOCKZ was the only thing I could find that grew hair with this iodine. I wonder if this will help...I hope so!
