Default I agree

Coppolla is the weakest system by far. I've done all of my Coppolla's at home, and I'm lucky if my results last longer than 2 weeks. Lucky. i just did my last one on friday ( just to finish the bottle), and the ONLY thing I did differently was use Suave clarifying shampoo before treatment instead of what I normally use which is Giovanni tea tree shampoo. We'll see if this alters the results at all, but i doubt it. I ordered QOD max and can't wait to try it out in two weeks .

How often do you wash your hair and what products are you using?

Hairguru, I'm using the Coppola Color Care shampoo & conditioner that I bought at the salon. I only wash my hair every 2-3 days, so it's been washed maybe 6x total since I got the treatment. The only styling product I've used on my hair is a tiny bit of Moroccan Oil.

SweetHomeAL,

I got my Coppola Treatment done in April, and it's all gone now. It lasted about 3 months for me, and I wash my hair everyday. I also use the same shampoo/conditioner that you use.

Mine was really poker straight for the first month, even when I let it airdry. I loved it, but also I have to remember that it wasn't as humid in April-May as it is now.

I really like the treatment, but it definitely doesn't last long enough. I also got it done last August (last year 2009), and it only lasted me 2 months then. I know I shouldn't wash it everyday though.

Hang in there. It could definitely be that the humidity is high, too.

I think coppolla is an effective treatment for wavy/looser curls. If you have kinky 3c and up hair coppolla won't really work for you. In my opinion, anyway!

I have definately 3b hair and I love, love, love this treatment. It has been so hot and humid in the east this year, and my hair is straight, no frizz and I love it. Had it done in February in Florida and again in June in Canada. I suspect I can go 6 months, but am now wearing my hair very short at the back so might just have the top done next time

I totally wish I'd known about this in my 20's.....my life would have been much easier

Default update: the process

so i had the all-nutrient treatment done by my cousin and her co-worker at her salon yesterday. it was a very interesting! right now my hair is pin straight because i haven't washed it yet, but it is not greasy at all! here is what happened

first i had a special shampoo. for virgin hair, i had to have the shampoo in for two minutes, and repeated three times.
after that i went to her hair. my cousin and her co-worker painted on the treatment. this happened 2-3 times (i can't remember because it all kinda blurred together for being there for three hours).
that sat in my hair for 10 minutes, then twenty.
after each sitting, my hair was rinsed.
after the last painted on treatment, they put a small amount of some creamy stuff and blow dried until it was a big poofball, then straightened.

right now, my hair is "poker straight".
the 24 hour time will be up in like an hour and 15 minutes, then i will see how it worked!

i am very excited.

I'm glad you like it! I love my BKT too, but for my fellow 3cers and up( 3c, 4a, 4b,) can't say the same. If you have thick kinky/afro textured hair. Coppolla just won't do or las very long. At all.

Default Newbie gotta Coppola!

Hi all,

Been a lurker before deciding to take the plunge with keratin. Thought I'd post to share my adventure. I have/had 3b/3c curls- very long (until yesterday) very dry on the ends. I did have some burning in my eyes during the blow dry stage of the treatment, and a bit when they were ironing near my face. Nothing terrible but definitely made my eyes tear. The routine went like this:
Wash x 3 with clarifying shampoo. Blow dry (I was a total fuzz ball!) Keratin painted in on small sections. Keratin left on my hair, covered, x 10 minutes. then, left on another 10 with cap off. Blow dry again. Still scary! Hot iron 8-10x per section. That's it! My hair came out pin straight, shiny and with incredible movement. It did feel a bit waxy and stuck to my head- which increased over the 3 days of no washing.
After my first washing, my hair was still straight and felt a bit lifeless to me. I think I miss my curls! Honestly, I hate the frizz but have come to love my curls. And I do think my particular face looks better with loose curls than kinky or very straight.
Anyway, on to yesterday. My ends were feeling very brittle and I desperately needed bangs, so I got a cut. As per my usual, I needed to re-trim the bangs when I got home. (ugh- $40 hair cut, honestly!) So now, a week later, I've had my hair washed 4 times and my curls are coming back. YEAH! Not kinky- just loose wavy bounce. No frizz. Tell me how and I'll post pics!

Smile question about the keratin treatment for not curly hair, but slightly wavey

Hey ladies, my name is Nadia and my hair isn't crazy curly but I do have an awkard wave to it lol. Also my hair is thin but lots of it, so i wanna get this treatment but afraid of loosing my volume. I LOVE volume and DO NOT want my hair flat against my hair. Do you suggest I get this? Thank you!!

Default to keratin or not keratin that is the question

I have a friend who is addicted to these treatments, however, she has completely diff curly hair than me. I have hair that is in b/w 3b and 3c, she is more like a 1 or 2. I am very interested in getting the keratin treatment done but I'm also wary of it. I had my hair chemically straightened about 6 years ago and am just now getting rid of all the damage. My friend assures me this cannot damage my hair like the old style straightening treatments. She also assures me that it doesn't have to grow out, but that it just kind of fades away and your hair slowly gets frizzy again.

So, basically, I am wondering three things:
-will this work on my 3b hair?
-will I still have some curl? I like my curls just not the frizz and the kinkiness at the roots
-finally, I use WEN haircare products (chaz dean's line), is that ok to use after treatment?

Talking Brazilian Blowout

So I have been thinking about getting a Keratin treatment for a long time and have read this thread and others from start to finish more than once! I have (had) type 3c hair that is very very frizzy and dry with tight corkscrew curls. I only ever wear it curly and I control it with a combination of leave in conditioner, mousse and pomade on wet hair every day. I have a love/hate relationship with my hair - when it looks good it looks really good but it is very hard work to keep it that way and I can never go swimming or get it wet without instantly putting my products back in it.

After months of debating it, I decided to take the plunge and get a Brazilian Blowout. I was assured my hair would still be curly but it would just be looser with no frizz. The thing I liked the most was the fact that the solution would be washed out straight away so there would be none of the 72 hour nightmare that the other systems have - and I wouldn't have to wear my hair straight.

The treatment was painless and only took 90 minutes. There was a bit of a chemical smell and my eyes stung a little bit when it was being flat ironed but that's it. Immediately after washing out the solution and air drying it, I could see I still had curl but it was a lot looser. The day after the treatment my hair was a bit flat and lifeless with just a bit of a "beach wave". To be honest I was a bit worried and thought What have I done? It wasn't very shiny either.

Today, 2 days after the treatment and my hair is completely different. I've got big bouncy curls, it's so soft and shiny and I have absolutely no products whatsoever in it. I am amazed at how good it looks and feels. I'm a total convert. I'm yet to see how long this will last but if I get 12 weeks out of it I will be very happy. Given that all of the Keratin treatments eventually wash out, my advice is just try it! If you don't like it, it won't last forever.

I had it done in Melbourne, Australia at Seen hairdressing if anyone is interested. They are the only authorised salon in Melbourne for the official Brazilian Blowout.

kiwichick - so happy you like it! Keep us posted on how long it stays for you. I found that each time it seems to last a little longer, however I have had the BKT and not the BB. I think it will be the same though. What products are you going to use for the aftercare?

Question Did it and lost my curl

I had the coppola keratin treatment in a SC salon about 6 months ago. I liked it but I had no curl left even if I let it air dry. Also, my hair seemed to still frizz unless I applied some heat to it. I'm just now getting some curl back.

I'm wondering...what would happen if instead of using a flat iron I used a curling iron and curled the hair during the last step?

Also, I found the product the salon used online for sale at www.stylebell.com.
