Favorite products for locs?

First, yay for the new locs section!

My question is what are your favorite products for your locs? Shampoos, conditioners, etc. I go to the beauty supply a lot I never get anything because I am trying to avoid anything that will cause build up. I also need something to properly moisturize my hair. I dyed it a while back and it is really dry. If you have found something that works for you, please share!

I am still in the starter locs stage so I haven't solidified a regimen as yet.

So while it's not a list of what works for me it's a list of things I intend to use.

I also have the same problem with finding all natural products, so a lot of the products I am looking at are generally available online. You can check the online stores to see where you can find them on the ground.

The products I am looking to use in the future are:

Shampoo: Still searching. I like the idea of using shampoo bars but they are hard to get on the ground. I do think bars might work best for locs because I can see someone with long, thick locs going through a bottle of shampoo in two washes.
Conditioner: I used to love HEHH when I had loose hair, but I think I might switch.

I have a strong suspicion that I will be using Oyin products to wash and condition.

Leave In: I have already purchased the Curl Junkie Soothing Lotion. Looking forward to try it.

Loc product: I have the Jane Carter Twist and Loc thingy.

Moisturiser: Donna Marie Curling Creme or Qhemet Burdock Root. Leaning towards the DMCC. With Qhemet my hair feels dry at the end of the day, but with DM it lasts a bit longer.

Oils: I am using castor oil and EVOO. I do prefer grapeseed oil but it's not available here. If I had to recommend an oil it would be grapeseed without a doubt. It's lighter than EVOO but works just as well.

DC: Still not sure.

Protein: Henna (and maybe aphogee)

It's not much, but hopefully it gives you a starting point.

my routine is pretty simple with sisterlocks.

shampoo diluted then every day i spray with either 1) water, 2) jane carter revitalizing leave in or 3) oyin honey water. for scalp oil i use the jane carter scalp nourishing serum. i also have the claudie's scalp elixir which i use once every couple of weeks. i am not supposed to deep condition really yet and i don't feel i need it but what i do is add some of the earth's nectar mourish spray to a bottle and spray that on. my locs are soft to the touch but not coming undone.

someone on another board posted this which is pretty funny but true!

I just started my locs last week:

Shampoo: KCCC or African black soap. Once loc'd I will be using clay

Conditioner: coconut milk with honey & lemon juice
Once loc'd will be using Giovanni Smooth as Silk conditioner (diluted) and Organic coconut milk

Retwist: golden flaxseed gel

Oil: EVCO, Evoo

I do rinse my pics daily and tea rinses 1-2x per week.

Moisturize when needed with:
B.A.S.K silk and honey latte
Oyin juices and berries or greg juice

Sometimes I seal with Belle Butters unyevu butter.

Wash once a week with shampoo bars. I've been using a variety I have from either BoBeam (cocoa rhassoul, ACV/bentonite) Njoy Creations (acv). I kind of wanna revisit Terressentials.

I rinse with ACV every so often. One time I omitted shampoo and just did a rinse. I liked the results so I'll probably do that again and more often.

I may need new conditioners because what I have isn't really that effective lately for deep conditioning. When i do it I do it after washing, obviously.lol. I've been using either Curl junkie curl rehab, B.A.S.K cocoa bark, and camille rose algae mask. I actually don't even think I need conditioners as long as I have my leave ins and moisturizers. Still thinking about it

I oil my scalp with jojoba oil after washing.

I think its too early to claim a retwist schedule but the last time I retwisted was last weekend. And I think I went like 3 weeks, maybe 4. I used a gel I made and I like how its holding up so far. I started my locs with Belle Butters loc lovin gellie but the hold is way too weak for my hair to retwist with. The gel I made consists of flaxseed gel, aloe vera gel, grapefruit eo and peppermint eo. Although its thin, the hold is strong enough so it actually looks like I bothered to retwist 3 days later, and still counting.
