sorta oily looking :/

on the days that i cowash my hair and reapply all my products, it looks great, however on the next day, it looks really stringy and the curls fall apart and flatten and it looks really greasy and intensely gross. i cant pineapple my hair because its just not long enough yet, so i do loose pigtails, but nothing seems to be working. can i have any suggestions on how to deal with second day hair or perhaps what products to use? thanks.

I'm on my way to growing out my hair to BSL and possibly longer- to also grow out a horrible uneven cut!

A lot of curlies cannot attain second day hair & must restart the process daily. Also, if you have low porosity hair, you really have to be careful as to how much product you use. At first, I used too much as the product did not abosorb into my hair, and it looked a hot mess, and by the evening or next day, my hair was greasy--and I have 4A hair!

Use a little less product than it appears that your hair needs initially.

What products do you use, the amount used & what is your application regimen? Do you have fine, medium/normal or coarse textured hair? Do you have waves or curls?
Storm BC'd 12/30/09 (my gorgeous dd), low porosity, thick density, medium-coarse texture?, elasticity ?
Mom BC'd 5/31/10, fine texture, low porosity, normal density, low elasticity

i put a lot less products, and the next day, i have non-stringy hair! *yay!* although yesterday my hair was really frizzy and fluffy...so i guess im one of those people that has to wet their hair every day. :/ ohh welll

I can't use a lot of products or cowash. Product generally just sits on top of my hair, looking awkward. I do, however, spritz my hair every day with a spray bottle of water to reactivate the curl after I sleep on it. I usually get great second-day hair that way.

Also, certain conditioners (even used as rinse-outs) make my hair flat and stringy within a few hours. If I were you, I would experiment with lighter conditioners to see what happens!
2b/cFi, low density, normal porosity, high elasticity

Low-poo
: Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle
Conditioner
: Suave Naturals (whatever scent I have on hand)
Styling
: Paul Mitchell Round Trip, Tresemme Climate Control Finishing Spray

I'm a hair minimalist: the less time I spend on my hair, the better.

Maybe try low-pooing?
