need help with some problem solving

I have low-porosity med-thick wavy 2b/2c hair. Man I'm getting good. Lately, I've been playing with products and want some opinions on which one cuold be the culprit. I have been using my cowashes as always, so that's not the issue. And I had been using the knot today leave in and that wasn't causing a problem. I used KCCC after knot today, and nothing else, until later with butter balms. It was crunchy but I crunched it out. Then the next day, I cowashed, put in some beautiful curls defining cream with knot today, crunch. Then cowashed (I do daily as I go to the gym) and put in knot today with KCCC, ok so I was rotating those two, and getting crunch. But today I put in knot today and the Shea butter defining cream from Beautiful Curls, and got not only crunch, but nasty stickiness and tangles, like I couldn't get my fingers through my hair. Pulled out some hairs and feel gross. Any ideas on what it is would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if maybe the KCCC isn't coming out with cowashes, although I would think it should. Also, I've been having lately itchy scalp but I think that's from too much conditioner on the scalp. But I have a big day tomorrow, and don't know which products I should use and which I shouldn't. How do I go about discovering this????
KCCC should rinse out with not problem. Personally, I didn't find the KCKT moisturizing enough for me. I've used the Beautiful Curls products and didn't find them to be anything special as far as my curls go, but didn't have any issues with them either.

As many of us do, I rotate products. Even though I wet, rinse out and style every day, I seldom use any one product more then twice a week.

If your scalp is getting itchy from a product, it could be an allergy. I'm allergic to a lot of the popular products on the boards--CK, Shea M LI, anything Bioterra. They make my scalp sting. It just gets worse, not better.

You may want/need to lowpoo every so often. Especially if you're using butters (I read butter balms to be a heavy ingredient), they may not cowash out. At least use a cleansing conditioner like CJ Daily Fix, it has coco b, a mild sulfactant. I try to use the CJ Daily fix every few weeks for it's chelating properties. I keep the DM shampoo around and use it every few months, if I feel that I have an ingredient "issue."

I think my hair is similar to yours, and agree with KathyMack on the low-poo (too late for your big day, sorry!). My hair actually feels more moisturized with low-poo than it did with trying to co-wash. It may be something to do with coarse or low-porosity, perhaps the low-poo helps the conditioner get in? But anyway - better behaved and better feeling hair with the low-poo for me.

I do almost daily rinse-and-restyle now, but do not wash every day. Can just rinse and either condition (but not co-WASH) and rinse out, or if it's not so tangly can just rinse out and put some leave in and detangle it.

Good luck and I hope you've already figured it out!

I might try that. I do find that it does look better after low-poos, so maybe conditioner isn't for my scalp per say. I do have the CJ daily fix. I might go for 2-3 times for week and see if the frizzies improve. The frizzies are what's got me down lately. They 're surface and all around the curls on the bottom.
I'm starting to think that lowo-poo suggestion for me is correct. I'm using giovanni 50/50 and they say that's a low-poo. How to know or what do you all suggest on how often to use it???? Is it damaging to the hair the low poos?

I've done low-poo about 3x a week for two years, no damage. Usually the DevaCare Low Poo (because it comes in quart size & my hair likes it best - you can get liters of Giovanni, too, if your hair likes that one) occasionally the Curl Junkie one.

I even go for the sulfate shampoo once a month or so, and it makes a huge difference. My hair was a tangled frizzy mess a few days ago. I washed with sulfate shampoo that I grabbed from my straight-haired daughter's shower, and it did wonders. My hair is soft and so much less frizzy. Maybe it is from buildup (using no-cone conditioners and styling products), but I don't know. I've been rotating a few styling products while trying to find a good alternative to CJ (which is great, but I would like to find something that costs less), so it is difficult to guess which one is the problem.
God is definitely helping me out but what I've also found has helped me is this. I stopped cowashing scalp, no conditioner on scalp. and section hair so that there is less tangles/mess and you have more control over what you're cleaning. I don't have much hair so three med.size sections is all I have to deal with, much easier to clean than "the whole head". I put conditioner through hair with fingers, and just rub the scalp a bit, not too much. Then I rinse rinse rinse. Rinsing is so important. I'm sure I was getting major conditioner buildup. My hair has been more fuller, more livelier, right away almost. I didn't need a week to see the change, and much more like how I knew it before and after a few days of this, less shedding. Cross fingers We'll see if it continues like that. One thign I will say, though, with all the clipping, pineappling, and stuff, and I was trying to comb in the opposite direction my hair goes (curlisto video) to get more volume, I think this has all added up because my scalp is in major pain. I can't even comb it right now, it 'feels like it's been in a super tight ponytail for a week straight. that kind of pain. ANd I know it's from the clipping to get volume (maybe I was doing it too wet who knows) and combing it in the opposite direction, . Anyone else find this? I need to go around totally undone (hair I mean) for a week or so before I dare manipulate more. BUt yes rinse rinse rinse!
