Default What are your favorite curl enhancers?

Curl enhancers are something I just haven't done much experimenting with and I would love to hear some of your favorites. I imagine I'll have to try several to find one I like, but if there are some you just can't live without, I'd like to try them first. I think that's a much better plan than just going out and grabbing whatever is available.

From my own experience in dealing with average stylists and regular store employees, I've found they all want to steer me towards products with 'cones in them. I try to explain that I don't use those because I don't wash my hair with anything that will get them back out. I have to remind my own stylist not to use product on my hair -- she's does a great job with the cut, though so I'm not complaining.

I actually don't use any curl enhancers, they've never really worked for me. Before I was CG, I used Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Booster sometimes, but it was too sticky. I spray my leave-in conditioner in for curl enhancement and scrunch some. I do this like if I need to refresh my curls after a long day.

I like AG Re:Coil, a lot.
DevaCARE One-C mixed with a little honey works.

Curl Junkie Coffee-Coco-Curl-Creme I love but not as a curl enhancer, it makes my hair droopier if I try to use it like that, and it has a (allegedly water-soluble) cone, so you may not want, but it is smoothing and moisturizing to my hair; I use a wee bit of this and an equal amount of gel scrunched into my hair when it's partway dry, it seems to help it shine and not be frizzy.

I like SheaMoisture Curl Milk. If I mix it with a little honey, I get great curl enhancement and hold. I don't even need gel!

I know this thread is from a little while ago . . . but is there something in Curls Rock Curl Booster that is not CG? This product has been doing a lot for me, and I can't tell if any of the ingredients are non-CG, but I can't see anything problematic other than a water soluble cone. Let me know if you see anything different! Thanks!

I don't see anything problematic in it. I think it used to contain dimethicone or amodimethicone, but not any more. I used to use it, and I still have it. I need to look and see if mine is the newer formula.

Spiral Solutions Curl Enhancing Jelly is CG friendly. When I use it, I top it with Spiral Solutions gel to give it some weight and hold. They are great products, but a lot is needed for them to have an effect on my hair. I use them for curl retention when the dew points are low and the air is very dry.

I love AG recoil. I also use JCRR or JCCC, these give pretty good curl enhancement. I experience no drying with AG recoil, but with JC products I did experience a little drying, so I have to use extra leave in.

Where do you guys AG recoil? Can you get it at walgreens, safeway, or target? How much? Is it CG?

Recoil has magnesium sulfate which can be drying, but it has no silicones. Like I said recoil does not dry my hair out, but always use a leave in. You can buy it at ultra or do a salon search for it. Also curlmart sells it as well. It is kind of expensive depending on your budget and how much you use. It is about $18 for 6 oz.

Another vote for AG: Recoil. It makes my curls pop like nothing else. I'm experimenting with smoothing a little KCCC on top after my hair is about 50% dry. (I think that is Smaster's method).

With Recoil just use a teeny tiny amount. I think I've tried a zillion products and other products have good properties but this is the one that makes more curls than any other for me.

If you are having trouble finding it, the manufacturer is AG Hair Cosmetics.
