Need advice
My mom has low porosity hair and she is having a hard time keeping moisture in her hair. She is also moisturizing and sealing.

Has she tried Sally's GVP Conditioning Balm? I have low-porosity hair and it works for me. I also leave it on for like 5 min. every time I wash my hair.

Are you sure she's lp? Most lps have trouble getting moisture in their hair but not as much retaining it. Hp's have an easy time getting it in but a hard time retaining it.
If she is lp then how often is she cowashing and what is she using? and what is she sealing with? is she using a leave in?
Some conditioners work well as leaveins for some people and not for others ie Tresemme Naturals. Doesn't work as a li for me but some people love it. Also some people need heavier sealers like butters.

I'm lp but different than a lot of others. My hair doesn't hold water, yet it dries quickly, go figure...lol. My hair loves the GVP Conditioning Balm.

Your mother may need to shampoo her hair. Low porosity hair tends to collect build up easily, especially if her hair is on the coarse side, so shampooing with non sulfate shampoo, gentle sulfate shampoo (Suave Naturals) or doing an apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse may be necessary. Once she does this, her hair should be able to accept moisture easier.

Did she ever shampoo? I'm guessing she has an oily scalp since she doesn't cowash. It sounds like build up, which is common with coarse, low porosity hair or anyone who puts a lot of product on her hair.

I find with LP hair, I have to dry my hair a bit before applying leave-in. If my hair is holding a lot of water, it won't 'take' the leave-in and will be dry when it, erm, dries!
Also, for some reason when you big chop, dryness is a common problem. No idea why! So I'd say make her a spritz that she can keep in her handbag and use throughout the day for now, and hopefully in time, her dryness issue will sort itself out.

I personally have never tried any of the cholesterols that people use on their hair (Sally's has lots of them), but a lot of people on hear have success. It might soak into her hair and help. It is also very inexpensive.
