Does anyone else use this conditioning technique?

It takes ages for anything but light conditioners to sink into my hair, so this is what I do:

In the evening, co-wash/low-poo, then slather on a thick-ish conditioner, like Shea Moisture conditioners.

In the morning, I rinse my hair under cold water until it's moderately wet, then apply a light conditioner and detangle. Then I apply styling product as usual.

So it's kinda like I'm overnight deep-conditioning every night, just usually with a regular conditioner instead of a deep conditioner.

I use a similar technique of using sleeping with regular conditioner in my hair as a form of DC. I like to use 1 tbsp
Shea moisture restorative Conditioner plus 1 tbsp coconut, olive or avocado oil. I too rinse it under cold water with my back arched so that I don't get showered with the cold water. Also, prior to rinsing I finger comb hair to make sure it is detangle and if I have a hard time, I may add on top extra conditioner. Does not have to be the same but must be a good detangler.

Does this not over-moisturize the hair? Having the hair rest on a waterbased products (like conditioner) all night can result in weaker, albeit very soft hair.

Prepooing with oils (like olive or coconut) is good because when they penetrate, they'll protect the hair from absorbing too much water/expanding too much during the wash. Doing it with water can feel very nice but the strands can lose strength in the process.

Rizos, I myself do the overnight DC only once a week (and sometimes twice). It does not overmoisturize my hair. But I think only once a week is good. Doing this every night would certainly be too much - I think.

Just an update...I've been doing this every night/morning and my hair is nicely moisturized without feeling over-conditioned :)
