Question My hair is so confused!

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but I've been an unofficial curly girl since 2011. Now, with that being said, I stopped my methods over the summer due to lack of money/resources to find great CG products locally. As you all know, natural/organic/CG safe products are usually really expensive.

Since I just started the CG method again, I'm having a hard time transitioning over. I have fine, LP 2b/2c/3a hair (it's all over the place, really, it just depends on how it's feeling). I haven't quite figured out what my hair likes/dislikes. Right now, I'm experimenting with the SM products, specifically the SM Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine shampoo and the SM Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner. My hair absolutely loves the shampoo, but I feel like it's having a hard time adapting to the conditioner. I'm not sure if it's because my hair doesn't like oils or butters or because my hair is easily weighed down. Lately, I've been co-washing with One 'N Only Argan Oil Moisture Repair conditioner, rinsing it out, then scrunching in the SM conditioner. After that, I leave most of the conditioner in but I dilute it first with some water. Immediately after I get out of the shower, I apply some Herbal Essences Totally Twisted mousse into it and plop it. Usually after 2 hours I let it out and diffuse it or let it air dry. I've tried using coconut oil on my ends and it just SAT on my hair. So that leads me to believe my hair doesn't like certain oils. There's silk protein in my shampoo, and my hair seems to love it. However, there's also lots of different oils in my shampoo too. I'm so confused.

I'm not sure if my hair doesn't like it or if it's having a hard time adapting to the no 'cones, sulfates, etc. Then again, I'm not sure if it's my mousse or not. Before I started using the mousse, my hair felt extremely straw-like. I just recently started using the mousse again. I need your advice, curlies. Do you guys think it's my products? Or just the transitioning phase? Also, what are some good stylers/conditioners for those with fine, frizzy, LP hair? Please and thank you!

*Note: My hair currently looks like this. It looks better in the picture than in real life. They feel limp, dry, and frizzy. I used to have thick curls that clumped up real nice in the shower (which is why I say sometimes I'm a 3a), and now, when I condition, the clumps are super small and sometimes stringy (which makes me feel like a 2b or a 2a). Help!*

I use the same SM shampoo and conditioner as you lol like you my hair LOVES the shampoo (also loves the conditioner though).

A lot of people (myself included) with low porosity cannot use oils after washing as they just sit on our hair. I'd suggest using the coconut oil as a pre-poo instead, which will help with frizz, and dryness and dandruff/itchy scalp issues and protect your hair before you shampoo.

Remember, though there may be oils in your shampoo, you are washing your hair when you use them - it's not the same as applying them to clean hair and leaving them in.

I'd recommend that instead of mousse you find a good gel - in my personal experience it gives me more hold / definition, makes my hair more manageable and really helps with frizz (like cuts it down to practically none).

Also if you're not getting on well with the conditioner then it may just be too much for your fine curls to handle, so consider getting something a bit 'lighter' so it doesn't weigh down your curls and make them limp.
