Product recommendations?

Hi guys,

I'm having some major trouble finding products to care for my 2c fine lp hair. I need some recommendations as to what I should buy. I need to find a new low-poo, RO conditioner, LI conditioner, deep conditioner, and some new styling products. I was thinking about buying KCCC and KCKT for the styler and the detangler/LI, but I wasn't sure how well they would work and I don't want to waste money on products that aren't going to work on my hair. Right now, I'm using what's in my signature. If anyone could help me, that'd be great! Please and thank you.

My hair is fine/low porosity. You might like some of the products that are in my signature. KCCC is fine. It's a product everyone should try--or you'll always want to try it. My hair doesn't tangle, so I don't need a detangler. KCKT didn't have enough moisture for me.

I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. I seldom use any one product more then once in five days, if that. I use the more natural products and stay away from a lot of chemicals (especially polyquats.)

IMO KCCC realllllyyy weighed my hair down and took my curl pattern from 3a/3b combo to more wavy 2b hair.

A lot of people have luck with this product but I did not. IDK if whats attributed to being low porosity or what.

I really like KCKT as a LI. I used it everyday but now Im experimenting with As I Am leave in which is a lot alike it and cheaper.
3A 3B mix
Colored treated
Combo Low and High porosity
Medium coarse texture

Goosefootprints hair analysis
Lo-Poo- As I am Shampoo, Shea Moisture Moisture Retention
Co-wash- Suave Ocean Breeze, As I Am Co-wash
RO-GVPCB, CJ curl assurance conditioner
DT- CJ curl rehab
LI- As I Am leave in,

Style- Sauve Everlasting Sunshine
KCCC is awesome, I highly recommend it!

YTCucs is a good low poo. Protein is good for fine hair, so you may want to look for protein in your products. Since your hair is fine and LP, I'd stay away from butters and oils.

NP/LP: KMF Whenever Cond./ YTCucs, Giovanni TTTT
RO/LI: Sevi Pumpkin Seed DC / CJ Argan & Olive Oil, KCKT, YTBbs
DT: Coconut Oil + scalp massage
OIL/STYLER: SM Elixir / KCCC, SS CEJ
COLOR: henna, amla & indigo
KCCC weighed down my hair. It was just too heavy. However, their spiral spritz is lighter. That's what I use now. I just don't like the lavender smell but I'll deal. The kckt is good for detangling and I like the flowery smell of it. However I wash my hair daily so I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. Otherwise I would keep using it. I don't use a leave in or DT so I can't speak on those. I just wash and then put the spiral spritz. Now I am experimenting with as I am coconut cowash.

I also sometimes add a tiny bit of the SM conditioner (the one in my signature) to my hair before I get out of the shower, but it's never enough to weigh my hair down. That's about as much oil/butters my hair can handle. Anything else and my hair goes spiraling downhill.

Thanks for all your feedback! I appreciate it!

I just tried the cowash today. I used it by itself in the shower. I don't use leave ins. They are too heavy for me. I've used the cowash before, about a year ago, but my hair got greasy as well. I'm trying it again to see if I just wasn't rubbing my scalp enough to clean it. My hair gets oily easily so I understand your concern. I'm going to see if rubbing my scalp more will be enough to stop using sulfate shampoos everyday. If I can go most of the week with the cowash and then use sulfate once or twice I could live with that. Right now I use sulfate shampoos daily and am worried about it doing damage without my knowing it. The kckt I used as a rinse out conditioner. A lot of people use it for a leave in though. Again, I just don't use leave ins period because cremes are too heavy on my hair. As a rinse out it made my hair easier to detangle and pretty soft

YTCucs low poo doesn't have anything that will build up on your hair. People are worried about the cetyl esters in the conditioner, but I haven't really had a problem with it - I use the Blueberries conditioner, but have the Cucumbers conditioner as well, but don't like it nearly as much.

KCCC doesn't really have a crunch... I can't explain what it is. You can scrunch it out (unless you use way too much), but it still holds well and you can tell it's there.. if that makes any sense at all. Apparently it's a love/hate product.

I agree.. As I Am cowash is pretty heavy. I get buildup from that, probably the castor oil in it. Although, it is a wonderful product and leaves your hair soft. I still use it every now and then if I don't feel like shampooing.

Okay guys,

I just invested in two new products I found via CurlMart. My first great find was the Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner. I got it for $6.40. I got a discount of 20% off. And the shipping was $6.20, so altogether, it costed $12.60! Talk about cheap! I was also looking around CurlMart for a low-poo and I decided to buy a Bobeam shampoo bar. I went on Etsy and got the big honey and oats bar for $7.77 (with shipping). I was going to buy the TJ TTT but I didn't have enough money for it on Amazon or eBay, so I decided on the bar. Maybe it'll work better anyway. She also just sent me a confirmation email that says it comes with a free gift! Hmmmm. I really have high hopes for the shampoo bar. It looks yummy.

I'm pretty excited, I just hope I've finally found my HG, especially in regards to the conditioner! Maybe I found both my HG's! When they come in, I'll let you know how they work on my hair. I'm hoping that the shampoo bar won't be too stripping or oily, since my scalp is so sensitive to shampoos and really easily prone to build-up. I'm now a self-declared product junkie!

Sometimes I get carried away and manipulate him too much. He tells me he's fine on his own but I never listen. I wash him less now and all in all we're happy.

It's a dangerous path to take
Medium texture, normal porosity, normal elasticity
I've used natural soap bars to cleanse since they were popular on nc.com summer, 08! I have to be careful of ingredients. My hair hated the CV bar I tried. If it had been my first bar, I would never have used another. Turns out it was the castor oil. I now know to steer clear.

It takes hair a while to acclimate to using soap/shampoo bars. It feels "odd" when you first use them. However, that waxy feeling goes away as soon as you apply your rinse out. Because bars are alkaline and hair is acid, a lot of people use an ACV rinse to restore the pH balance. I did this the first few years. After that, I determined that my hair products were acid, so stopped doing it. I do get frequent hair cuts (every six weeks), so that may make a difference.

When I used shampoo bars, all natural ones too, they all dried my hair out horribly. I mean the moment they went in my hair it felt like my hair was straw. It got tangled too. Any idea why this happened? I tried like 5 different ones, all with different ingredients

So strange. If I recall correctly the ones I used didn't share the same ingredients 😕

Do any of these things look bad? Everything seems to check out for me.

I'm curious why you're using a sulfate shampoo in lieu of co-washing rather than a low-poo. It seems an unusual choice, given that you appear to be trying to do CG except for that. So I assume I'm missing something here.
