dry skin

My skin gets really dry in the winter, nothing I use seems to help it. I try drinking a lot of water, and there's no way I'm going to shower with cold water! Does anyone have any body butter recs?

Body Shop Body Butters..they are amazing!!
Be sure to use it as quick as you can after your shower, to lock in moisture.

Topical products can only do so much, you need help from the inside out too, such as essential fatty acids (EFAs). In a health forum I used to participate in, ladies who took 1 Tbsp. daily of flaxseed oil (must be the refrigerated kind at a health food store to make sure it's not rancid) or 2-3 1200 mg. caps/day of Evening Primrose Oil reported after a few weeks that their skin and hair produced oils they lacked before; some even said their nails improved.

I swear by Aveeno Daily moisturizing lotion with oatmeal. I have dry itchy skin the fall/winter, so itchy that I can overscratch and get reddened/irritated areas. This kills the itch and keeps me moist all day. Don't have to use in the summer.

Don't put a butter on your face, though. A lot of the typical ingredients are comedogenic. Have you tried using cold cream to wash your face? The "light" version has a comedogenic ingredient, but the regular one does not.

By the way, my favorite moisturizer is MOR Body Butter in Fig and Olive (olive LEAF, that is). It's hard to find, but if you can--buy it. It's a little pricey, but it's very moisturizing yet non-greasy, and has a beautiful non-food scent. I'm pretty sure they have a website, too.
I started searching ebay for candles, and many of the sellers made goat milk soap. So I searched the web for someone in my area who made it (So I would not have to pay shipping), And I got this lady locally to give me some samples of soap and lotion, WOW, I have never tried anything this great, I will never buy commerically made soap or lotion again, these are far superior. In fact I am getting everyone in my family a gift basket from this lady. It is defiantly worth a try!! I know that CVS and Walgreens online sell a brand called CANUS. HTH

I'm going to try goats milk soap, and I try out a few body butters, as well as improving my diet.

If you've got an Ulta nearby - they're body lotions are AMAZING. I was seriously surprised at how good they are. They not only moisturize, but also soften and improve the tone of your skin. Trust me when I say they are my staple from now on (some of the scents are kind of plastic-y, though, so be careful).
Some good hair days

Don't worry about what other people think. They don't do it very often.
Hey!
The season is wreaking havoc on my skin now, too. And I have a gift certificate for Ulta. Which ones do you recommend from there? Any that are unscented? (or nearly unscented?)

THANKS!
3c, mostly spirals. Finally figuring out how to live happily with these curls. And now they're starting to love me back!
^^^ definitely go for unscented lotions if you have dry skin.

most fragrances will cause dryness.

i use a shea butter/olive oil cream from a Canadian drugstore line that only has the natural scent of the shea butter.
