Default Ayurveda anyone?

Does anyone follow any ayurvedic practices for skin care or hair care? I'm reading Absolute Beauty by Pratima Raichur and I'm intrigued....

I use some ayurvedic powders on my hair, and like the results.

I do recommend that book if you're interested in natural herbal/essential oil skin care or treatments. I'm planning on scheduling an ayurvedic consultation. I think I've figured out my dosha(s) but would like some expert advice.

I use Hesh Herbal products to cleanse my skin & occasionally mix them with conditioner for my hair. My favorites are the orange peel and amla powders. For a moisturizer I use pure jojoba oil. I've never found anything better!

Those products look interesting. Did you choose them based on your dosha, or for some other reason?

Well, at first I tried everything, then narrowed it down to what worked best for me. I haven't taken a dosha test. Lemon was too harsh for my skin, Multani Mitti didn't do a darn thing but feel nice, Shikaki was too drying on my hair.

I mix Amla and Brahmi together for my hair, but if I had to pick just one, it would be the Amla. They essentially do the same thing, and I've never noticed a darkening effect on my color from either. My skin is noticeably brighter and "glowy" after I use the Orange Peel powder, and also makes my hair extra soft when I mix it with conditioner.

Suggestion: for the face masks, I mix equal parts powder and water, and leave it on for about 3-5 minutes, or until it starts to firm up/dry. I prefer to rinse it off before it's completely dry because it's easier to remove, and my skin begins to itch if the mask dries completely.

ETA: Neem is great for persistent acne, but the smell was much too strong for me.

I've been exploring this website and ordered the sample sizes of the3 step skin care for the pitta dosha. I just received them yesterday and have only used them once so far. They seem gentle, felt great going on and smell wonderful. I'm going to be scheduling an ayurvedic consultation at a nearby wellness clinic, since I do have a fair number of questions about how all this works. I love the concept, but have to see how my skin reacts.

So far I'm really enjoying these products. I especially like this product:

It helps with blemishes without drying up the skin around it.

Here's a website that'll help you determine your dosha.

Ohhh how did the cooking class go? I'd really like to hear about that since I have minor digestion issues.
