Your favorite, never-fail products

I'm talking about everything from makeup to skin care down to body wash. What are the products you can't live without?
http://unpavedpath.blogspot.com/
CoverGirl mascara. I love love love the rubbery brushes. I have two or three of them going at any given time.

I've been using Revlon ColorStay foundation for over a year now, and I'm very happy with it. Summer is tough because my super ultra fair complexion gets ever so slightly darker, but not dark enough for the next shade up, so I might start looking for an alternative or something to make it darker, but I always come back to it.

Clean and Clear BP. I don't use it all the time, but when my skin flares up and my usual tea tree oil and retinol routine aren't touching it (every couple of months or so) I switch to BP for a few days and things start moving in a better direction.

Stolen.
Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner. The automatic one. Its the best pencil eyeliner ever. I can get it to stay on my waterline for 8 hours or so.

Ulta Professionals eyelash curler. I have semi-small eyes and my lashes grow nearly straight down, and this does the job quite well. And I never pinch my eyelids with it.

Yes To Carrots Shower Gel. I have a zillion and two contact allergies, and this doesn't make me react. Plus, it smells nice and cleans well.

Aquaphor. Best lip moisturizer ever. Srsly.
Rock Chalk Baby!! If you aren't from Kansas, you just won't understand!

Dame Kenz Matilda Jayhawk-Rocksalt, heir to the family diamonds.
CoverGirl mascara. I love love love the rubbery brushes. I have two or three of them going at any given time.

DiorShow mascara makes me look like I have false lashes.

Clinique's Black Honey -- either in the lip gloss or Almost Lipstick -- is a really pretty berry shade that gives kind of a "your lips but better" effect. Though I prefer the gloss since it wears so much longer than the lipstick.

Another product: St. Ives 24-Hour Moisture Advanced Body Moisturizer. You can put on a ton of the stuff and it melts right into your skin, no weird filmyness.

Aquaphor hand cream. Lasts and lasts.
I've only got 2 at the moment:

Benefit Erase paste, I put it on at 7.30am and it's still there at 7.30pm.

Body Shop Vitamin E body butter, it's a bit greasy when on but after my skin has sucked it up it's got rid of all the flakes and ashiness.
Fat does not make you fat. It's actually pretty important.
Cover Girl Marathon mascara in black. Been using it for 30 some years. I hoard it because it's getting very hard to find, they may have stopped making it even. No other waterproof mascara comes close to it.

Avon waterproof liquid eyeliner in dark blue.

Wet and Wild Lip Crayons. The only lipstick I wear. Lasts a long time and isn't drying. Again, I think they may have stopped making it so I have dozens in a drawer.

Beauti Control wet/dry powder foundation.

I've been wearing make-up for almost 40 years and have yet to find a blush that I love.

Yves Rocher shower gels. Luscious suds and delicious scents.

Suave coconut conditioner (great for shaving legs).

Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment. I am simply addicted to the smell.
In Western PA
Found NC in 2004. CG since 2-05, going grey since 9-05. 3B with some 3A.
Hair texture-medium/fine, porosity-normal except for the ends which are porous, elasticity-normal.
Suave & VO5 cond, LA Looks Sport Gel, oils, honey, vinegar.

I'm pretty fickle with make-up but these are my go to's for skin care.

Cetaphil in the winter and Purpose face wash in the summer. Gentle and effective.

Oil of Olay moisturizer. Just enough moisture non-greasy.

Dove soap. I love them even more since they made new "flavors".
2b/c, medium/high porosity, medium/coarse texture
Current HG: Kinky Curly errythang, GVPCB, LALSG

2b-c/m/ii

Aussie Aussome Volume shampoo
Coconut oil + Aussie AV shampoo
Eufora aloe vera leave-in conditioner
LA Looks Sport Gel

I use the super-soaker method

1) Not a product but eyelash curlers. I have a half one to curl the outer lashes (Sephora) and then I curl the entire lashes with a regular one (Shu Uemura).

2) I use Estee Lauder More than Mascara which thickens but doesn't clump. I've tried about 15 mascaras over the years - drugstore and dept. store.

Still searching for an HG for undereye darkness.

Good thread.
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift

Except now i use olay foaming face wash for sensitive skin.

Dove cucumber deodorant..

Trader Joes (Alba) Moisturizing Cream Shave.. mango scent i believe. I use this as a cuticle cream as well.

Ecostyler Gel -- i use this on good hair days, but when i give up on bad days & throw my hair into a bun.. this is what i turn to. ive never not possessed a jar of this in the last.. pshhh 5 years.

Aquaphor healing ointment for my lips.. cant live without it. All it is is jazzed up vaseline but idk this stuff is IT for me!

& The Body Shops overpriced body butters.. L0VE them lol i just got some for $10 each so i stocked up! Keeps my skin moisturized in the dry winter & nice and supple in the summer. Mango & Strawberry are where its at!

The cuticle clippers they use at the nailshop, i use them for everything but.. to remove ingrowns, to clip hangnails, to tweeze my eyebrows..

Sally Hansen Insta Dry Nail Polishes have saved my life.

I don't wear make-up because it's too much work!

I have combo skin. I use Cetaphil for normal to oily skin in the mornings, and alternate that with Aveeno exfoliating pads in the evenings. I tend to get this weird rash when I don't use the Aveeno stuff enough.

I like the Dove exfoliating body wash.

I use Aveeno face lotion w/ spf 15 in the mornings, Neutrogena combo lotion for night.
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Repair Me, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC, UFD Curly Magic
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

Right now I'm in love with coconut oil for my hair. I work a tablespoon into my hair (only below the base of my skull), rinse out the excess, and leave the rest in.
i lovvvve covergirl lash blast luxe (or somethin' like that.) doesn't clump and hardens soft. also i love ELF (eyes lips face) products. it's always 1 dollar, 3 dollars, or 5 dollars! but they have amazing quality. and vive pro conditioner is AHMAZING!
)
My favorite no-fail product is MAC's paint in Bare Canvas as an eye shadow primer. It is hands down the best. My eye make up lasts all day with no creasing and I have REALLY oily skin! Some of my work days end up being 14 hours and when I go to wash my face at night it still looks great. It takes so little product, that a small tube literally last one year for me. I LOVE this stuff.
3a/3b Medium Texture & Normal Porosity
Modified CG since November 2009
Low Poo - (Once in a while) True Polaris Solid Shampoo Bar
CO-wash/Condish - (I'm lazy, one step only!) True Polaris Solid Conditioner Bars
Styling - True Polaris Truly Curly Styling Gel I add 'cones in summer Truly Frizz Free Hair Serum
I plop and defuse daily

I love MUSE
"My favorite no-fail product is MAC's paint in Bare Canvas as an eye shadow primer." - Ceri

Same here - a MAC SA turned me onto this and i've never looked back. A tube of this lasts me 6-8 months - it seems that I have to apply more than you do.
Other no-fail products for me are:

- Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
- Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser(AHA/BHA combo, as my skin doesn't like leave-on AHAs very much)
- Aquaglycolic Cleanser(excellent, stronger AHA cleanser than the Neutrogena - haven't used this in awhile but will soon after I finish up my Neutrogena)
- my own shea butter-coconut oil combo
- a trio of CosMedix(a pricey but really nice skin line where the products are so concentrated that they last a long time)products - the Reflect SPF 30 sunblock, Benefit Balance(anti-oxidant, non-drying toner)and Pure Enzymes(exfoliating enzymes that really work and don't irritate the skin).
- Shikai shower gel in Gardenia, lovely and not too strong scent, a biggie with me, doesn't dry skin out.
- extra-virgin coconut oil as my only body moisturizer, for me nothing else comes even close
- Wet 'n' Wild lip pencil #666 - for me this is a your lips but better color, and with a gloss over this, terrific go-anywhere look!
- Wet 'n' Wild 6-color palette in Vanity(cream, pale gold, bright gold, bronze, dk. brown, camel)
- Physician's Formula Baked Bronzer in Baked Tan, gives a lovely light golden glow(perfect to lt-med skintones) without being shiny
- MAC blush in Peachykeen, Sunbasque(when I have a bit more tan)
- MAC Studiosculpt foundation - love this!
- MAC eye shadow single in Soft Brown(no drugstore dupe for this - I, and a whole bunch of other people have looked, with no success)
- MAC eye pencil in Tarnish, an unusual dk. charcoal green that I haven't found a drugstore dupe for.
- Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner(co-washing)
- Sally Beauty GVP Conditioning Balm
- Sally Beauty GVP knock-off of K-Pak
- L'Oreal Nature's Therapy MegaMoisture Nurturing Cream(moisturizing DT)
- LA Looks Curl Look Gel(turquoise one)

I'm sure there will be others along the way, but all of these are in regular use - LOL!
1.Cetaphil gental face wash-never bothers my roscea
2.Chapstick-medicated-lips are always dry so this helps
3.Bare Minerals mascara-the brush is amazing
4.Bare Minerals foundation light-always matches my skin tone in any season
5.Dove Clinical protection Deo-it's the best at warding of the sweat rings and onion smell
6.Dove body mist in Cucumber-I normally hate purfume, but like the light clean smell of this
7.Ivory soap-gentle, simple, cheap, yet gets me squeaky clean
I'm a big fan of Paula's Choice though not all of her products work for me (darn rosacea!). But here are my no-fail products:

1. Paula's Choice Skin Recovery cleanser - this is the only truly gentle cleanser that is also able to take off all of my makeup. Other "gentle" lotion-like cleansers like CeraVe are great, but don't remove makeup well at all, which is a must for me as I wear makeup every day.
2. Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid - keeps my skin clear so I never have to worry about breakouts, and also is anti-inflammatory so it doesn't make me redder (like AHAs do). However I only use it at night because if the sun hits it, my skin dries and flakes.
3. Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture for Sensitive Skin - a very simple yet effective moisturizer. Doesn't have any bells and whistles like antioxidants, but sometimes my skin just needs a break, and this is the product that I know will make everything better. I wear it under foundation daily to prevent my skin from drying out under the hot sun.
4. Paula's Choice Barely There Sheer Matte Tint - my daily foundation. It's sheer so it doesn't look like a mask, but it makes my skin look nearly flawless and glowy, and it has SPF 20 to boot.
5. Sephora Mattifying Foundation Compact - I dust this powder over the foundation to control oil and make my skin look truly flawless.

Those are my only mainstays!
