has anyone tried revlon cream shadows as primers? I like them :-) In general, i only use jumbo eye pencils or cream shadows as my color primers. I still use a neutral primer and then follow up with a cream color shadow to help my powder shadows pop.

Great tips Phoenix!

I had no idea there was such a thing as a shadow primer; I just thought I couldn't wear eyeshadow.

(I still don't think it looks very good on me, but I blame my poor application skills.)

Thank you for the reply. I have very oily lids and the original UDPP has worked well and matches my ski to e really well. I am tempted to try the UDPP in Sin even though the glimmer is a bit intimidating for daytime for me. I got a one-use sample and sort of liked it. I may buy a tube during Sephora sale and if I don't like it I will return it.

Hah!

Found it.

Okay, to resume:

Is that silver and auburn on your eye? Did you deliberately match your brow color or is that just a trick of the pic?

Also, I've been using MAC's eyebrow mascara as regular mascara (they have a great brown which comes off easily at night, something I like). Is there any reason I shouldn't, in your opinion?

Finally, what is someone with your skill choosing to be for Halloween? And will we see photos (yes I know I'm a total hypocrite when it comes to pics, but I swear, you are so much more photogenic than I am it's not even decent)?

The makeup in my avvie is purple and gold sparkle. So it must be a trick of the pic making the colors look different. I was doing my interpretation of the galaxy for a makeup contest.

There's no reason not to use brow set as mascara. It's safe for the eyes, which is the main thing.

Hee, I dont really do Halloween. So Im not dressing up. But if I were going to dress up Id be Mark Anthony, and Id get my friend to be JLo. I dont know if Id get amale friend or female friend though. Who are you going to be for Halloween?

Oh, you'd be a great JLo!

Did you win the contest? I'm sure you did.

Good news about that mascara: thanks!

I was just going to wear my Darth Vader mask which has a heavy breathing voice recording built in, but now that I'm driving to and from Detroit on Monday (to send the dog in my siggie to Seattle), I think I'll be missing my neighborhood celebration. It's okay: I'm in a strangely un-candy-ish mood lately.

I was thinking of driving home from Detroit in the mask, but could I get pulled over for it?

Hi Phoenix! I just wanted to let you know that your eyebrow tips work fantastically! I've been using a stiff angle brush and matte finish brown eyeshadow. I'm able to get a softer more natural look that I'm happy with. Thanks so much for your help! You're the best!
Love your artistry in your avi!

I got a ticket anyway, just so you know.

Yes, I'm still whining about it.

Yes. And to add insult to injury, they just called me on a Sunday night to advise me the date of my hearing had changed. I paid the effing thing! Leave me alone. Grrrrrrr! When will this end?

Now, moving on..........

Why do so many products have shimmer in them? I tried on a matte makeup base ("wear alone or under base") today, and when I went back to my car, I saw that my skin was now flecked with shimmer. Why would a product that works to remove shine then add it to their products?

This red-around-the-nose consumer wants to know.

Have you determined why the ticket bothers you so? If you paid, why must you have a hearing?

They just hadn't received the check yet.

I'm dropping this matter. Thank you anyway.

So, what do you think about this trend toward shimmer in everything?

I am not Phoenix, but this trend with shimmer (and BLING in non-beauty-related products) irritates me to no end. I have oily skin so I don't need any help with the shine, and it makes the shine even worse when I do oil up, and as I age I hate that the shimmer settles in places I do not want it to.

It's as if all products are tailored to magpies now.

LOL @ magpies.

Like you said, shimmer is a trend. So makeup companies have all jumped on the bandwagon.

(Glitter is a big trend too. There are entire companies dedicated to making glitter makeup). As you know, shimmer and oil provide different types of shine. Personally, I think using shimmer as a highlighter is a celeb MUA trick that the average person is getting hep to. It can give a nice glowy look. Plus, there are so many little girls buying making, to whom companies are trying to cater. Little girls love sparkle...
