Say It, I Dare You ~ Makeup/Beauty Style
I did it again; I stole the Say It thread. The thread where you can say whatever it is that you've been holding in because you know you'll get slammed by friends, family, coworkers, other board members, etc.
Say it no matter how unpopular you think it is. One Rule: Your posts have to be Makeup/Beauty/Skin care- related. They can be embarrasing, controversial, funny, interesting or whatever you like. Here's Mine: I used to pronounce "matte" as mat-TAY. |
oo. its mat isn't it? I still say matte HAH.
I hate when I accidentally match my eye make up with my clothes |
I hate that MAC has discontinued Glam lipstick.
I hate that my mom thinks she is the bomb so-called makeup artist (she is not - no license, no experience) but cannot blend her eyeshadow properly. It makes me not want to go out with her. Also, she wears me out trying to dang dissect my face every time she sees me: "what color e/s are you wearing? (the e/s I paid for, that's what color)" "what foundation you wearing? (the same one as yesterday, that's what!)" I wear makeup because I like it, not to have it dissected by you. You weren't even checking for makeup until I started wearing the good stuff on the regular. That is all. For now. This thread is right on time. |
How to stick it to Body Shop:
1. Buy a product at 50% off. Promptly lose the receipt (I think it got thrown away when cleaning?). 2. Realize it makes your skin feel like it's coming off, slowly. With a cheese grater (this is technically optional, but it's what happened to me, hence the return). 3. Return for store credit (w/o receipt). Get back 100% of the original price (note I paid 50% but got %100 back) 4. Realize that even though you exchanged $36 worth of purchases for $60 worth in purchases - you still have $12 left over on that gift card. .... if they wanted to know I got it on sale, they should have asked. *shrug* At least the new stuff is helping with the cheese grater feeling..... I feel both very bad and very awesome at the same time. But I'm justifying it because my skin just got a chemical peel it so didn't want or need! |
Ummm.....that's technically stealing.....but LOL @ the chemical peel part lol. I've been so upset about a HORRIBLE product, I just wanted to put some water in it, shake it up and make the bottle look full and take it back LOL.....but then my conscience kicks in and I have to take the loss.

I wish I understood why my foundation looks great one day and horrible another day. Maybe its my technique. But I try to be consistent.
I hate when I ask the MAC people what color eyes and lipstick would go well with my skin tone. tell me I have brown eyes so I can wear any shade of lipstick...including a bright a** yellow. I just cant. from the cellular device -*I can't fit into a box*- |
They knew I got it when they had promotions on, I told them that (sort of I didn't outright say I got the 50% off, just that it was a week ago, when they had a promotion on). They just chose to give me credit for the full price. They didn't ask which promotion I got that time....
I think they would've cared more if I was getting cash back, not store credit. If they want to give me back more money then I paid them, how is that stealing? They knew when I bought it (I said a week ago, when they had that "wheel promotion thingy" - and I kinda quote that - and they didn't ask which promotion I got - I could've got 50% off, buy one get one free, etc, by spinning a wheel). They also knew I used some, that they asked and I was truthful about using every product. Any other place wouldn't have given me anything - but it'll get me to go back in the future, so they're not exactly missing out! I doubt I'll try to return things I got on sale, though... I do feel a lil' dirty. |
I'm almost inept when it comes to eye makeup.
I think I look like a drag queen all too easily. I wish this skill came naturally to me. |
I don't know how to add dimension to my face. Depending on the foundation I use, my face can look flat and fake and I don't know how to contour or whatever to give my face some dimension. :-/

^^^Bronzer can keep your foundation from looking flat. There are some good contouring vids on youtube.
|
i wish i could wear mac foundation without breaking out, life would be so easy. it is great color match after all....

this is one of the best foundation and contouring vids i've seen. she has good skin but clearly and simply shows how to do foundation, highlighting and contouring. even if you don't do all the things she does you might get something out of some of it! |
I can't understand why I can't get my eyeshadow to "pop" like many of the artistic photos I see. I use MAC and I can put nice color sets together but I can never get them to pop.
On the flip side, I'm not a make up artist but I can recognize the difference between art and clown...when you can't quite pull the look together, start over with natural basics (wash off what you did) and put a simple look together until you figure it out. I wanted to say that to someone I saw this week... |

Thanks LuvMyLocs...I have been practicing and I have some beautiful bright shades. My thought was I'm either not applying heavy enough or I need a lighter primer shade...I had it done at the MAC Store and thought I followed what she did but it didn't look the same...only color I can get to pop is silver or black. Lol!! Thanks, I'm going to continue to practice. By the way, love the eye in you profile pic!

It's official: I really did lose my contour color at my family reunion in July. :( I guess I knew it even at the time, but I kept hoping it had just somehow slipped into some corner of my room after I got back. Nope - it's gone, and since it's an EDM shade and I don't buy from them anymore, I'll have to find another if I want to contour. I admit it wasn't actually the best color for me, but it worked well enough and dangit, my baby face is going unchecked right now and I'm feeling insecure about my cheeks. I really need to start exercising again, because even though my body's as slender as always, I feel like my face shows it and really needs less flesh on its bones.
Am I getting a sty in my eye? I sure hope not. [ETA: Yeah, I totally have a sty. This sucks.] If I am, I know what it's from: the brand new bottle of Covergirl LashBlast mascara that I used both as mascara and eyeliner to wear to my mom's work party. But that's so unfair! I used to use that exact brand and formula all the time before I switched to the Physician's Formula stuff in the cool leaf-like tube, and I removed it thoroughly and didn't put it on my waterline or anything. Also not cool of my eyeshadow to crease away to look like nothing - I hope at least someone saw my cool green and silver look before my lack of primer won out. Good call cloning SIIDY again, Phoenix! I didn't even realize I had makeup-specific rants! |

I don't know how to wear makeup :(
Wish I did. Lol, I'm 17. I've worn mascara, eyeliner, lipstick and eyeshadow before. I have tried some of my sister's blush & foundation. Rarely if ever have I worn all of that together. What products should I use for a daily polished look that isn't time consuming? And what about for a glam look (prom, graduation, symposium etc). |
I can not wear black eyeliner without looking gothic....or maybe thats how its supposed to look hahahah.
