So, I was surveying my eyeshadow collection and I'm fairly satisfied with my shimmery neutrals (thanks naked palette!) and my brights but I don't have a single matte color that matches my skin for every day looks or to tone down some of the ridiculous shimmer in other colors. Do any of you have recommendations? I'm somewhere between a MAC NW40 and NW45.

Thanks for all your help!

I would like to recommend MAC Malt and Vanilla also.
NYX Nude Matte in Maybe Later or I Have a Headache
NYX Single in Pure Skin or True Taupe
Team Wash and Go!
Wouldn't Mac Vanilla be an off-white color? How would that match the OP's skin?

i like mac arena and also cork is nice. it's really skin tone-ish (for me) so i mainly use it to balance/blend when i wear a colored shadow so it doesn't look sharp or hard.
a dreamy pisces
please recycle, it matters...

i own mac swiss chocolate and love it! i might have saddle too but i think it might be similar to cork with cork being a better "nude" match for me.

agree....good thread!

I want to add: Estee Lauder Double Wear cream eyeshadow in cafe au lait. It has shimmer to it but if you blend a little foundation on your lids beforehand and put this on top...very nice, nude but finished eyes.

Thanks for the excellent recommendations everyone! I'm so glad other people have said this thread is useful for them! But I have one more question/challenge! What do you suggest for ladies/lads on a budget?

The matte brown in the wet n wild vanity palette looks like an excellent crease color but apparently it's been discontinued (!!)

Some of them have several of the colors you may want), and you can get them online for less during sales. Also, check your BS for Black Radiance products, which may include some of their discontinued shadows, which are plenty neutral. And last but not least e-bay. Not those people with storefronts for their stores but actual individual sellers can sometimes be a bargain.

i would say nyx for budget shadows for sure or a 6 container trade in for a free mac shadow! you could probably get away with just one or two of the suggested mac shades to meet all your neutral/nude shadow needs.

You can only get lipstick at the MAC counters in department stores. If you go to the MAC store, you can get a lipstick or eyeshadow with trade in (I just did a trade in about 2 months ago)
