Mineral Makeup

I use GloMinerals for my foundation and blush - it's worked a million times better than BareMinerals for me, which always settled into the fine lines on my face and made my skin feel dry. The ingredients in GloMinerals are pharmaceutical-grade and contain vitamins (K, E, A, and C), and green tea extract and antioxidants.

According to my esthetician, it's the only makeup that can actually improve your skin's condition while you have it on. It's more expensive, but the difference in my skin has made it worth every penny. About two weeks after I started using it, one of our cosmetology school instructors asked me if I would model for a facial class because she wanted to show the students what "flawless" skin - without makeup! - looked like under a magnifying lamp.

I don't know if everyone would get the same results, but GloMinerals has sure worked wonders for me

The Tin Man?! That's an excellent visual. I don't get that 'sparkle' thing some gals talk about. Keep in mind though, my skin is on the dry side, and my complexion is pale and a little olive. So the #2 in BE is a near perfect match for my tone. Personally, I don't care for matte anything, unless it's a very sheer lip stain or blush. I don't like shiny either. The BE is more a glow on me. Also, warning: the EM blush samples I got were dreadful: fuscia and super-sparkly. Not sure what that was about, but they were colors that would only appear natural on a tropical fish.

I saw IsaDora mineral makeup in the Walgreens sale paper today. I believe IsaDora is an exclusive walgreens brand. I went to the walgreens site and found the ingredients. Check these out.

Mica , Zinc Oxide , Amethyst Powder , Citrine , Tourmaline , Aquamarine Powder , Titanium Dioxide May Contain - CI 77891 , Iron Oxides May Contain - CI 77491 , Iron Oxides May Contain - CI 77492 , Iron Oxides May Contain - CI 77499 , Ultramarines May Contain - CI 77007 , Manganese Violet May Contain - CI 77742 , Bismuth Oxychloride May Contain - CI 77163 , Ferric Ferrocyanide May Contain - CI 77510 , Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide May Contain - CI 77510 , Chromium Oxide Greens May Contain - CI 77288 , Chromium Hydroxide Green May Contain - CI 77289
I wonder what the crushed gemstones add, if anything.

Doesn't Walgreens have a generous return policy on makeup? I'm tempted to try this for no other reason than I like playing with mineral makeup. I still have plenty of my BE left.

Oooh, thanks for posting about the IsaDora. Their ads looked enticing and I was planning on checking it out next time I'm near a Walgreens.

I'm enjoying my EM much more now that I've found better shades, formulas, brush, application technique, etc. Still playing around with things, but definitely sticking with minerals.

I'm afraid to try BE because I'm afraid I'll like it lots more and want to switch, and I've already poured enough cashola into EM for now. LOL.
I have very fine 3A hair!

I like Aromaleigh. I don't get the same itch that I get from BE, and it is more matte, which I prefer for shine control. I'm pretty oily, and the BE just made me look shiny. I sitll love BE eye and brow stuff though.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Hmmm, maybe the BE is just a better fit for dry skin. I notice the creamier texture & glow is what I like about it -- but 20 yrs ago when my skin was more oily, that may not have appealed to me as much.

Brio, I believe the tourmaline crushed gemstone is suppoesd to be be calming & brightening. Aveda puts in their moisturizer.

I have some samples from Everyday Minerals. I am not overly impressed with them and I totally see what CelticCurls said about the chalky, powdery feeling. I thought maybe I was just not doing it right.

I looked at Meow Cosmetics today and that looks really interesting. And I love their names. I also like that it says you don't have to buff as much, just brush on. I can't seem to master the buffing thing. I picked out some samples so we'll see how that goes.

I got the samples in from Meow Cosmetics. I do like it much better than Everyday Minerals. Not nearly as difficult to blend correctly and does not look powdery at all. It really is just a brush on, no real buffing needed. My original samples were from the Pampered Puss line in a few different shades and although the color is good, it isn't quite enough coverage for me even with building it up. So today I ordered samples in the Flawless Feline line which is a more intense coverage. We'll see how that goes. But overall it is a nice line of minerals. No irritation and super easy blending.

I also found EM really chalky and heavy. I switched to Lumiere, and I really like it. It lasts, they have a great cream concealer, and their eyeshadow colors are gorgeous! Plus free shipping!

I'm not big on BM- it's got the Bismuth ingredient that actually is meant to make your skin look a little shiny/dewy-- that's the last thing I want. I tried Aromaleigh a while back and really like it. My samples got accidently thrown out and now i don't know which shade was my perfect match!

I can't believe I actually ran out of the BE & didn't realize. I'd been wearing tinted moisturizer because it was hot -- well, for here -- 65F & muggy. Until I had an unfortunate PMS skin day. And realized it was all gone. Drat. So I ordered a bunch of samples from Alima. They looked interesting to me because they have such a wide range of tones: fair, neutral, yellow, & olive -- which I've never seen before. My skin is actually a pale olive. I tan very easily, but prefer to keep it pale & protected. But the other shade-choosing guides made no sense to me because they all listed 'yellow' tones as looking good in earth tone colors like orange (ack! Not!) -- olive looks good in deep jewel tones. Anyhoo, they're described as 'satin matte' & I actually like the BE glow, so we'll see. I ordered a bunch of samples in the different tones.

Hi. RedCatWaves & Bekah79 posted about www.meowcosmetics.com
I sent for mega samples-great customer service, lots of shades/tones to choose from, and three formulations-I got the one for sensitive skin & it seems lighter(I am older and also tend to break out on occasion). I placed a large order when they had a 20% off Valentine's sale. This is the third brand I've used in about 3 yrs, and it's definitely a keeper, not dry, not oily, not irritating . And the foundation jars are HUGE! Hth...

I agree with you. I've never been happy with Meow's shipping prices. They occasionally have a free shipping weekend though. I'll try to post about it next time I see they are having a sale or free ship.

Thanks to reccs from RedCatWaves, I ordered samples of both the Meowcosmetics mineral makeup and Everyday Minerals today. I'm looking forward to trying it.

ETA: Darn you all. I saw something on Lumeire in this thread and bought samples of those too.
