Mineral Makeup

well last night I was feeling so yucky that I knew there was no way I was going to make it up island this week and I want to try this NOW - so I ordered a started kit to try it. I got the light (I am fair like I said but I have rosacea and freckles) will let you all know what I think when it comes. I'll probably be here asking for advice on using it even with the dvd...

What a year - letting my hair go curly - starting WW and wearing make-up -- will wonders never cease?

Well my package is out for delivery on UPS tracking - so I will probably be writing for help tomorrow or Sunday I can't believe I am excited about getting makeup --

I've been using Jane Iredale for about a year now and love it! I bought one last October and I just had to buy my second a few weeks ago. It is pricey but it lasts forever. I use the pure pressed powder too.

You guys convinced me to give mineral makeup another chance. I didn't love Everyday Minerals, and didn't want to spend a fortune on some of the other brands.

I think I'm now in love with Meow, though! I got some samples a few days ago and they've been great so far. I just ordered some more...I got foundation samples in the lightest (0) and the next (1), but even the 1's seem too pale. I just ordered some samples of 2's, and some samples of undereye concealer.

I also love the oily skin primer. That stuff really seems to help!

Well it has been a couple of days - and I am thinking I really like this - I have to get something for my eyes and brows and lips (Hey can't jump in all at once ) but it doesn't take me long to do and it doesn't look like it did when I tried other makeups (liquid and powder) in the past - in fact it looks like me only better - if that makes sense.

Hoping for some lessening of the redness from rosacea and I like that is has some built in SPF in it ....

I bought some Bare Escentuals off EBay last night to try. Although I love the look of Meow, after using it for awhile I think it is drying me out even more and that's even with daily moisturizer and I use a heavy one.

I can't wait for it to come in. I love to play with makeup.

Hey, rho - try a multi-use color stick or cream. You can use it for blush, lip color and even a tiny bit blended into your browbone. I like NARS The Multiple and Bobbi Brown color pots. The color looks natural and you're out the door in 30 seconds.

After trying so many different types of mineral make-up, I've broken down & paid full price for the Jane Iredale pressed powder in Warm Sienna. It's a seamless color match, & nice finish - neither shiny nor matte. Close second was the Pur, but its color is less warm; very moisturizing though and about $10 cheaper.

Thanks I'll look into those - gotta run but didn't want to not reply right away - have company coming tonight - from your neck of the woods - well a bit North actually (Eagle River)

Off to make the bed up since the sheets just came out of the dryer.

thanks again

I've always used them over liquid foundation but under translucent powder, so this is new to me. Thanks!

I use any cream blushes under mineral foundation, not over.
^^^ Thanks, I'll try that when they get here!
I use my cream blushes over, but then my skin is dry. I do use powder blush too, but prefer cream which looks more sheer & natural to me.

When you apply it over the powder mineral makeup, do you pat it on with a sponge, or your fingers, or use a brush? Also, I was thinking that maybe using something like Nars The Multiple sticks over the powder would be better by putting it on my fingers and patting, rather than just rubbing it straight on like I do with liquid (or no) foundation?

I was also wondering how long it usually takes for any of you guys to get an order from them. Since I ordered last night I'd expect that they might not ship until maybe tomorrow or Wed. So a full week total? More??

Heh. I think maybe Curlmart's super-fast shipping has spoiled me.

Oh man, that sucks! I guess I'll have to settle in and wait patiently like an adult.

Sort of.

In other news..
I ordered some meow samples last night in the Pampered formula: absynnian, manx, chatreux, and korat all in the Naughty level. Hopefully one of these will work out for me! I also added one of the new firefly blushes and bronzers and an eyeshadow!

But today I actually tried using Nars Multiple under my Pur pressed foundation, & liked the look. It's certainly easier to blend, & with a cream product like Bobbi Brown, that's highly pigmented, if you're heavyhanded, you can easily layer the minerals over the top and sheer it down. On the other hand, I'm not usually heavyhanded, & you have to be if you're applying it underneath. The experiments continue... (That emoticon is me w/out blush)
