January MAC Collection News

i've been hesitant to post this because there is still some confusion as to whether or not the collection will be released.

2 years after the Liza Minelli Icon collection, MAC is schduled to release a Diana Ross Icon collection on January 27th.

however, last month, "Miss Ross" decided that she was not happy with the names of the products and is trying to back out of the deal. news story link:

there are two eye shadow quads as well.

i'm not sure which colours go with which names, but here's a colour description from a MUA post:

"2 eyeshadow quads: Coral & Pink

2 new beauty powders (in pink chrome compacts)
One is beige, the other pink

4 lipsticks, a coral lustre, a berry lustre, a frost bronze, and a light mauve - black tubes with pink insides

3 lipglasses, a pretty medium bronze, a light golden beige, and a mid-tone purple-mauve

2 pro longwears in a medium plum and a medium bronze

2 sheertone blushes, a reddish brown, and a hot pink (my favorite) -in pink chrome compacts

1 eye khol in a dark blue-purple

the brushes have pink handles and pink fibers"

thanks for posting...this is interesting. i think the colors look nice. i like the purple shades. i'm black and would probably try those colors. some of the collections i think aren't for all skin types but i would try those purple shades.

it looks like the proverbial show will go on with or without her. i don't know why she hates the names...what did she expect? has she never gone to a mac store...there all wacky...it's not personal...

for starters... it came out a week early!

the eye shadow palettes aren't anything special, but the lipsticks are LOVELY!

and i got Sunny Boy lip glass - a bronze/orange shade that is gorgeous.

the eye kohl is nice, but Bonne Bell's Black Plum eyeliner looks almost identical to it for one-tenth the price.

I saw Sunny Boy but I was able to resist. It looks SO pretty but I am on a gloss ban until I use up some of the ones I have.

I did pick up the Diana Quad 2---my first MAC eyeshadows so I'm excited to play with them.

Hey Rou....going back to the High Tea collection, I recently saw the High Tea lustre lipstick and loved it. Didn't try it on my lips though, only swiped it on my hand and what a pretty colour!

I'm extremely pale skinned....will this show up at all? Do I really need this or can I find something similar for cheaper? Also, does it look better paired with a gloss?

i have to admit that i seriously considered this because i just LOVED Flipside - the tan shade, and i have Shroom and Showstopper and use them often. but i could NOT see myself using Dance Mix - the coral shade - at all and since i already have Showstopper 3 times and Shroom 4 times [palettes], i decided i could pass on this one.

a few PPPs on my MAC site have found that this is TOO nude on them! it vanished when i swiped it on my hand - i wear NC/NW 15/20.

i bought Dainty Cake, but it's TOO strongly pink-coral for me. while i've heard many people calling it their "holy grail" lipstick! [i'm selling it.]

if you got High Tea, i'd recommend a darker lip glass over it - Oh Baby for starters!

Slightly OT, Rou, do you happen to know if they're ever going to bring back Infrared Wood? It was a lipglass lipstain, and the best color ever. I am hording my last bit of it (and yes, I know it was discontinued ages ago). I figure with all your MAC contacts, you might know the skinny on this one.

Silly and Spectra Peach were my two main colours. i have Infrared Wood too!

no plans in the works besides the minis for xmas just past. if i hear anything, i'll let you know!

You know, initially I had the same reaction. But the MA and I got to playing (it was a slow day) and I actually used the coral shade (which is gorgeous) and it goes on really nice and it's so blendable.

Today I'm actually wearing Flipside (my new favorite shadow I think) on the lid and just over the crease in a heavy wash, showstopper as liner and dance mix on the outer third of the lid well blended. My bf said it kind of looked like a really pretty sunset. It's not too flashy (I am at work), but pretty.
