Acne due to products

Someone in the 4a forum posted a question about products/conditioners causing acne... so i thought that I'd post my response here too and see what you guys thought.

original thread:

my response:

My skin is very prone to breaking out and it is extremely sensitive (so which hazel or anything like that would make it red & angry ) I didn't really have issues with additional break outs from to product application - but I also plop often, so anything product-filled water that was destined for my face would get caught in my "towel" (which is really just a big t-shirt)

The problem that I'm having now is that I've started doing aerobics (jazzercise) and I sweat heavily. I think that the sweat is combining with my products and is causing break outs...

Does any one else experience this? I've tried taking a shower and thoroughly rinsing my hair before going to work out - but I don't always have time for this... maybe some sort of sweatband/headwrap would help?

any suggestions??
TIA
mostly coarse texture, normal porosity... I think?

When my acne was out of control, everything broke me out, including just sweating. So, maybe it's just the new workout routine that is making your acne worse, and not necessarily your hair products.

I've been through hell and back treating my acne, and eventually ended up taking a course of Accutane, which cured me for over 10 years. It returned a few years ago, and I didn't want to take Accutane again, so I embarked on totally new skin care regimen. The first step, was getting rid of detergent cleansers. Once I did that, and my skin barrier healed, I found that nothing really breaks me out anymore. If I had known as a teenager how bad detergent was for my skin, I would have had a much easier life with my skin issues. Soap is no better. Soap has a very high PH, which also breaks down the skin barrier. There are only 2 non-detergent, PH-balanced facial cleansers that I know of:

Thanks redCatwaves! I'll be sure to check out those links.

I took a course of Accutane about 2 years ago and my acne started coming back about a year and a half after I stopped...

I REALLY don't want to go back on it because of the expense, the time consuming monthly doctor's visits, and the giving blood for testing. Plus I noticed that I was definitely exoeriencing depression towards the end of my treatment

I may just have to go back on it again.

Thanks so much for your recommendations!

Oh, yes....I'm oily. These products clean me very well, without stripping my skin.
just wondering if theses ingredients would be detergent free as i would love to try this method!
Aqua (Water), Coconut Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth, Amygdalum, Hamamelis (Witch Hazel), Malum Acetum (Apple Cider Vinegar)*, Citrus Sinensis (Essential Oil of Sweet Orange), Condire, Citrus Grandis (Essential Oil of Grapefruit), Citricidal, Acidophilus.

thankyou! i havt no idea about these things, i think the 1 i'm using now is irritating my sin but have no idea what to buy
