Ladies with redness...

I have seen that several of you have issues with redness just like me. According to my derm, mine is not rosacea (sp?) or any other skin condition, I just naturally have some redness in my cheeks and sometimes my nose which just stands out more because I am so pale. So I am constantly looking for something to help calm the redness. I have been using Aveeno Ultra Calming with pretty good results, but two days ago I bought Neutrogena Anti-Oxidant Age Reverse Night Cream and boy what a difference. I used it Tuesday night before bed and then again Wednesday morning before I put on my makeup. I didn't realize at first why my makeup looked much whiter/lighter than usual and then I realized it was because my cheeks weren't so pink. Even with makeup you can usually see the redness but it normally just looks like I have a little blush on. But with this stuff, it took out almost all the redness. I am so impressed. There is a day cream as well that has an SPF in it, but I usually use night creams during the day anyway because they tend to be a little heavier and I need the extra moisture (dry skin). According to their site, here is what is in it

Feverfew, an ultra-soothing antioxidant that helps to calm irritated skin.

Gamma Tocopherol, one of the most potent forms of vitamin E available that is a natural component of skin's protective moisture barrier.

Essential Soy®, Neutrogena's proprietary technology that is rich in proteins, isoflavones and natural moisturizers to help smooth out skin texture and brighten tone. Essential Soy has also been clinically proven to reduce the look of age spots and discoloration.

Helioplex™, breakthrough UVA/UVB sunscreen technology that helps guard the skin against both superficial UVB sunburns and deeper-penetrating UVA sun damage, such as premature wrinkles and dark spots (I think this is only in the day cream, not the night)

Just thought I would share.

thank you soooo much... i have been giving serious consideration to IPL treatments, but it's worth it to try something cheaper!

I have good luck with Rosaliac moisturizer by La Roche-Posay. I don't have rosacea either but, as an extremely pale person, I find that this helps to minimize my tendency to redden. It's fairly hydrating and, since I am also oily, I just use it on an as-needed basis.

Thanks for posting this!
I have a tendency to have reddish skin too due to being fair and pale. I've always been self-conscience about it, but thought there was nothing I could do.

I'll look into these products-- are you still having success with them?
thanks for posting! i'm always on the lookout for drugstore products. anything that cuts redness is good in my book, and in fact in the past neutrogena sunscreens and moisturizers have been irritating for me. it sounds like this is formulated to be gentle, though.

how moisturizing do you find this cream? the winter weather has my skin pretty dry lately.

I'm still using it and I still really like it. It doesn't aggravate my skin like some stuff does and doesn't have a strong fragrance which is nice. I use the night version during the day too because night creams always seem to be a little thicker than day creams and I need the moisture. And I find that sometimes stuff that has built in SPF tends to aggravate me anyway which is also why I was hesitant on the day cream. It's good stuff.
