MAC for newbies..
 

I decided that I want some MAC makeup for Christmas, but I don't know what to get! I know they have holiday sets of brushes and eye shadows, but besides that, I don't know what else is good.

Normally I wear:
-black or plum eyeliner on my top lid
-black mascara on top lashes only
-undereye concealer


If it's a special occaision, I'll wear plum eyeshadow on my lid, brown on the crease, and a light purple on my brow bone. All I know is that MAC eyeshadow in Mulch is good for a crease color.

Any other suggestions?

ahhh... my favourite topic in the whole world....

since you like plum purples, you might want to look at Trax and Plum Dressing.

a good highlight eye shadow is Naked Lunch. but if you're looking for a lighter purple, Beautiful Iris is a lovely choice.

my favourite concealer for around the eyes is Select Cover-up in the small tube.

i don't actually like MAC mascara - i find it clumps way too much.

Thanks, rou! I've found my HG mascara and concealer, so I don't really need new ones, but I can't wait to try the shadows? Do you think I can go to a MAC counter, and they'll tell me what I should get?

absolutely go to a MAC counter... they are a great source of information.

i've seen some of the videos on You-Tube, don't know if they are the people you mentioned. in my October column, i actually direct people there for instruction on creating smoky eyes.

I've found the salespeople/make-up artists at MAC to be incredibly helpful. I have never been steered towards buying something that I wasn't completely sold on anyway. :cherry:
