Biotin and acne

I also take 10,000 mcg per day and have been for over at least a year and a half for brittle nails and have had no acne problems. And I use to have cystic acne that would flare up a couple times a year for years. But I haven't in a couple years. Maybe because my body actually needs the biotin? Without it my nails are very brittle and break easily. They still are, just not quite as bad. I do have health issues causing this and the biotin is the only thing that is making any difference.

i am going to finish taking my hair vitamin that has biotin in it (every other day) and then just go with my multi and b-complex. that already gives me plenty of biotin. for me it's not worth it to have bad skin and if it's in any way contributing to that i don't want to do it.

Interesting thread!

I just started taking biotin in a supplement starting this past Saturday and I ended up with two cystic acne pimples on my face. I will start drinking more water and being more persistent with my B-Complex to see if that will help. If this keeps up, I will have to discontinue it.

Yes biotin may cause acne, as it contains some harmful chemicals. You can go with natural remedies to get over acne. Natural products like lime juice and garlic will really help you.
Pimples on skin
If you take a value or low quality biotin it will cause acne. It's not the biotin it's self that's causing the acne, it's the fillers used to make the actual pill. I've take biotin for years with no breakout. I take a high quality biotin with good fillers. I'll include a picture. Yes, it's a lot more expensive but you will not break out and will see results. I recommend going to GNC and pick up a bottle of they're biotin. I also recommend that you pick up one that has other vitamins along with it. It will help the body qbsorb the biotin better. The biotin is water soluble meaning that I will not stay in the body that long so I take mine at night where I won't be urinating itout as I would in the day. Lastly, you shouldn't be taking more than 5000 mcg a day. 1mg equals to 1000 mcgs just for those that are confused by those equivalents.
If you plan on taking biotin, take at least 3000 mcg. You would really see results any less than that. This bottle of option is 20$ vs the target or Walmart brand that is like 1.50$
