I wash my nether regions with soap....more like the crevice where the leg hits my torso. I don't go "in" any farther than that and I try to always make sure that everything gets rinsed away very well so that nothing stay behind to turn into funk later on.

I don't know if jojoba oil would be better. I didn't feel that the jojoba oil moisturized very well.

I had to give up on the no soap. Recently I started using the kiss my face soap the ingredients are basically saponified olive oil and aloe vera.

I notice my skin isn't as dry with soap. But I bet that it is acidic. It burns if it even gets close to a sensitive area.

My face is sooo oily, never need a moisturizer. But the rest of me, even when I was doing the no soap thing. I can't get enough moisturizer. The oil didn't moisturize me enough and lotions always have dimethicone and I end up scraping them off the next day.

Now I am trying glycerin rose water and avocado oil. My skin is still kind of scaly and in the shower even with out soap I am peeling off the residue I guess that the glycerin causes.

Any suggestions??? I just want to be moisturized from my elbows down and not greasy or with a dimethicone film on me.

Do people mix hydraulic acid with their oil moisturizer or is that way to expensive to do?

Nina, have you tried the Hempz brand of moisturizer? I found the original brand in a tanning salon, but found a knockoff at walmart for $5. When you do get in the shower, it's slick, but easily rinses off. That means it's doing it's job in moisturizing your skin. They have different scents, the original which I'm told smells like grape bubble gum, cherry almond, orange truffle...I think that's it. I really like it.

You can also find a different knockoff at Sally's. It's called Hemps and has the hemp leaf on the packaging. HTH

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Soap on the exterior genitalia is fine. The pH balance only matters on the inside...keep the soap out of there.

I was going to post the same thing- I don't use soap, and am actually having great results! Instead of soap, I use a loofah and a mixture of baby oil and essential oil in a small spray bottle. My skin has gotten really soft and it's never dry any more. On occasion, I use the dry skin dove soap, but overall just a loofah.

Yup. I was told that using soap with fragrance is the problem. A gentle, fragrance-free soap is fine.

Some good gentle soaps, without actual perfume/fragrance are: Sappo Hill (many kinds), Dr. Bronner's castille soap, and Aubrey Organics. They make some gentle, non irritating soaps that work well...downthere...as well as the rest of the body.

I like Dr. Bronner's bar soaps and Sappo Hill the best. Some grocery stores carry them now too.
