PSF Vitamin C serum breaking me out

After spending $45 on this serum, I can't even use it on my face. I stopped applying it for a couple of weeks and my skin cleared up and then if I try to add it back to my routine, I break out again! I really wanted to do something good for my skin and it sucks that my face hates the stuff. Any other antioxidant I could try that may not break me out? I don't know if it's an ingredient in the vit. C serum or just the vit. C itself that's causing the problem. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm wondering if the PSF Berry Beneficial would be just as effective and maybe work better for me. RCW - any thoughts?

Too bad about the Vit C. Did you not try a sample first?
Perhaps you can return it to PSF or put it on the swap board.

There is a curly who is using the berry beneficial, but her name escapes me at the moment...she has lovely red curls...maybe RedCelticCurls.

That's quite unusual. Most people find Vit C clears acne, not causes it. How do you know it's from the Vit C? Are you generally acne-prone anyway? Most of us can't pinpoint exactly what causes breakouts, and a lot of times products that we think are breaking us out are just coincidence because we would have broken out for some other reason anyway (usually hormonal).
Ha! Of course I didn't buy a sample first. I just assumed since it worked on others who are acne-prone, it would work well for me since I don't consider my skin to be particulary sensitive, so I've been using it on my chest, shoulders, and neck instead. I'll send RedCelticCurls a PM and see is she uses the berry antioxidant stuff. Thanks.

RCW, I've been using the serum along with the Castile cleanser, the salicylic acid (2.5%), and jojoba oil/HA. I also use Benzaclin every other night. I noticed my face wasn't clearing up like it usually does when I use Benzaclin, so I eliminated the vitamin c since it is the only thing that is really new to my routine. A few days after I stop using it, my skin clears up. So I didn't use it for a couple of weeks and my skin was more clear than usual. So, determined to use the serum, I added it back and broke out again within a couple of days. I've done this adding and eliminating of the serum about 3 times now...same thing happens each time.

BrandyC, I know this is an old post but it caught my eye because I've been having the same problem with the PSF Vit C. I've started and stopped using it several times to see if it was the cause of my breakouts and that seems to be the culprit. I just ordered a sample of the DY Vit C. I don't think it's the Vit C itself. The PSF has several other ingredients in there also and I'm thinking one of those other ingredients might be the cause. The DY Vit C only has Vit C and propylene glycol in it so I'll see how that goes.
Were you able to find something else to use that was effective?
