Default Mineral Makeup & Women Of Color??

I've been going back and forth on this for some time now. Should I give Bare Minerals, or whats the other one, Sheer Cover a try?? I've never been happy with any makeup i've tried(but then again, I never buy anything expensive either), but I think i would like to give this a try. Are there any women of color here that use it?? What's your opinion and is it worth it(coverage wise) and will it make my skin break out?

I've never been able to find a mineral brand that matches my coloring. I'm fair skinned and an olivey golden color, kinda sallow. Everything is too orangey for me: Bare Escentuals, Bare Minerals and Meow.

Only Becca (liquid and stick) and Smashbox work well.

I've heard good things about Valana Minerals, which is a mineral makeup geared towards women of color specifically.

I've never tried it myself, but I'm intrigued...

Default Pur Minerals

I use Pur Mineral, which is sold at Ulta Cosmetics. It works quite well. It blends with my skin---very well. And then the mineral mist sets the powder so it looks really good. I highly recommend it!

I'm very fair, so I can't say I'm completely experienced in this, though it did take me a while to figure out my right color. I use Everyday Minerals and they have some great foundations to try. There are women of all colors on the forums that are great about giving you suggestions. That's actually how I found my match. And a lot of them are converts from Bare Minerals because of itching problems.

You can order a free sample kit (just pay a few bucks for shipping) that gives you three foundation colors, a blush, and a concealer. It's a great deal! I haven't run out of my samples yet, and I started ordering in June. Even then, the full size jars are pretty cheap.

They're also launching some new foundation shades soon for a more comprehensive line for darker skintones, should you need more incentive to try! It also has not made me break out at all, which is nice.

Whatever you choose, good luck! I know it can be a pain finding something that works for you.

im egyptian so my skin is olive and tan fairly dark brown, but because of the olive arabs have mixed in with the brown, bare minerals didnt match me well...the only foundation that matches me perfectly is global goddess but its not cheap! you could always check out the makeup line by iman which is made for all sorts of colors

I am pretty ignorant about makeup, since I hardly ever wear any, but I do like having some on hand for if I ever feel like wearing some.
I just got some samples from valana minerals, and it's great stuff. My first try at mineral make-up, and I can't believe how natural this is! I am still deciding from four shades which suit me best. I think Earth Diva and Earth Sable.
I got some from b.l.a.c. minerals, but I didn't like the shades as much. They all seemed a bit reddish on me, though they get some great reviews.
Then I found that there are so many lines out there for women of color!

I have a fair complexion but with the olive undertones common in Italians. BareMinerals works well for me. As my color changes due to the sun, I get about 4 shades darker in the summer, I find I don't have problems with blending with the BareMinerals, it's make up for dummies as far as I'm concerned. I work with a woman of color and she uses it too but mixes two shades to get the perfect color mix.
