MUAC Toner and Aubrey Face Wash update

Ok..I wish I had taken a before photo.

I started using the acne pore minimizer toner. Based upon auntnett's success with it I was hoping it would help me. I started using it last week...Tuesday I think. I also started using the green tea soap they sent along with my order. By Thursday the redness had subsided and some of the cystic acne had subsided.

On Thursday I used the 40% lactic acid peel. I got a bit nervous because it said not to use on irritated skin so I did not leave on long at all-maybe 2 minutes. I will try this again this Thursday and not be so wimpy about it.

I also got my order of face wash from Aubrey that has seabuckthorn in it and started using that today. The face wash is creamy and for combo/dry skin. I did not feel any need for a moisturizer today.

I will update in a week but so far I can see some improvement with just the toner. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Good luck! Something about *just* having clear skin can make my day sooooo much better!

xcptnl 08-26-2009 08:48 AM

You are so right 2poodles!

Well, an update. I used the Aubrey face wash two mornings in a row (yesterday and the day before) and used the green tea soap that MUAC sent me at night. I think it has too many oils in it for me. So I have gone back to using just the green tea soap that MUAC sent me. I was seeing some increased redness and possible pimples coming up. So last night and this a.m. I used the gree tea soap and the toner and again, improvement. I am going to try just that routine for the next couple of weeks to see how it goes. My period will be in the middle of those weeks so a good test period (no pun intended :) ).

i don't like that green tea soap. i don't use it on my face but will use it on my back and chest whenever i get a sample. if i remember i request a sample of something other than the soap.

i recently bought their last and brow stimulator. we'll see ;-)

So funny how everyone's skin is diff. The green tea soap is working much better than the aubrey one I bought. I am still on the hunt for the one that 2poodles talked about in her thread. My nearest Whole Foods was not carrying it but I may be near another one this weekend and I will check it out.

I don't particularly care for the MUAC green tea soap either - I only use it before peels. It just doesn't clean well enough for me to use all the time. I need to use 2-3 cotton balls of toner afterwards to remove the make-up it leaves behind. Don't need toner at all, except for this one's medicinal purposes, after cleansing with either the Boot's Deep Cleansing Facial Foam or the Purpose cleanser for normal to dry skin (cleanses very well but doesn't strip it like the normal to oily formula does on me).

I've never used any seabuckthorn wash, cream, etc. Maybe it is too oily for routine use. I've only used straight seabuckthorn seed oil (different from seabuckthorn berry oil - I don't now remember the difference, but seem to remember that I went with the seed partly because it stains less), applied directly to bumps when having a couple of particularly bad rosacea breakouts (noticeably different from just acne - at least on me) - I even had it up in my hair in the front.

My oil was purchased directly from an organic grower/herbalist on-line about 3-4 years ago www.bluesagenaturals.com - at the time I could find nothing locally, only on-line and not much there. I sought it out because of a lot of buzz at the time on www.rosacea.org Fortunately, I haven't needed it again since back then (knock wood!).

I found it in the aisle that has the cosmetics - Dr. Hauscha products, etc. It was on a lower shelf. It wasn't near any of the other regular soaps/cleansers. You might have to ask...

I'm still loving the Pomega5 - both the original and the one from whole foods. I also used that green tea soap that I got as a sample from mua - I like that as well.

I rarely use makeup (I work from home) and with the breakouts lately that is a good thing so maybe that is why I feel like it works for me - I do not have any makeup to clean off.

I am going to hold on to the aubrey cleanser-it might work after I get stuff cleared up. I like how it felt. It's hard to tell right now because it feels like a lot of stuff annoy my skin right now. But it does look better this week. Like I said the next 2 weeks will be telling-with my period coming.

Thanks for that info - I will make sure to look there!

Ok - it's been about 1 1/2 weeks. The irritated redness on my checks has faded a lot! The 3-4 cystic bumps I had or underground pimples (not sure how to describe them) have gotten much smaller but not totally gone. I have used the 40% peel 2 times now (the most recent on Wednesday). I have also been using a buff puff type pad (the kinds you can buy at Target/Walmart-pkg of 9) every 3rd day or so. I have been using those VERY gently as my face can get annoyed by something too rough. I am very pleased with how things are going. Like I said I have used the soap/toner/peel from MUAC during this time with 2-3 washes in the a.m. with the Aubrey cleanser but I stopped using that cleanser for now.

Next week will be telling as my period starts then and my skin does react from that around the midpart of my period.

But so far I am pleased-I hope the improvement continues. I will be looking for Pomega5 soap this weekend.

2poodles 08-28-2009 11:47 AM

That's great, xcptnl! I'll keep my fingers crossed that your progress continues longterm!

Do be careful - I have a myriad of broken capillaries from too strenuous use of them and facial scrubs when I was younger, trying to remove scaly patches that I didn't know were from seborrheic dermatitis. Without the broken capillaries, I wouldn't need to wear makeup most of the time.

Is your regimen still the green tea soap, MUAC toner, and LA peels?

You got that right. I just barely put them against my face-just enough to get rid of some flakes!!

Yes, the green tea soap and the MUAC toner 2x a day and the LA peel 1x a week. So far so good.

xcptnl 08-31-2009 10:46 AM

I am still hunting for the Pomega5 soap-well was. I stopped in another Whole Foods over the weekend with no luck so this a.m. I called my closer one - of course they say they have it so I must have missed it when I looked the last time I was in there. So I am going to go there tonight to get it. In the meantime I order the other pomega5 soap from their website. I will now have 2!!

Still so far so good. The overall redness has faded a ton on my cheeks. You can see red spots but it is not all red and even those have faded a lot. Tomorrow I have to go out and see clients so I am feeling soo much better. While I do not wear makeup much I do wear some when going to clients and into the office but now it will not look like I am trying to cover something up!!

2poodles 08-31-2009 11:02 AM

Great - I hope you like the pomega5 as much as I do! And I like having two of them - one by my sink for night time and one in the shower for the morning!

WurlyLox 09-01-2009 01:06 PM

I looked for Pomega5 and the AO GPB conditioner in the alternative scents at WF yesterday - no luck, although I did get a larger bottle of GPB.

I did finally find some rosewater, so I might give JesstheMess' method a try. It just seems like it'd be a lot of trouble, though. What sort of luck did you have with it, Xcptnl? I seem to recall that you were thinking about trying it . . . .

auntnett-I did not have good luck with the jessthemess' routine. It seemed like it would work but at the time it did not. I wonder if it would be ok once I get stuff cleared up. It was so hard to know if anything was working when my face was so inflamed and red and irritated.

I have to say I really think this MUAC toner is the BOMB! I am in the week of my period and still looking sooo much better. I cannot even explain how much better my cheeks and temple area look. I am still using just the toner and I just started using the Pomega5 (the teenage version) the other day. I had to meet clients yesterday and it was amazing how much better I felt about myself when I was just able to use a moisturizer with some tint to it.

I know the toner is a bit expensive-I have been using it for about 3 weeks I think - 2x a day and I have used probably a 1/4 of the bottle maybe a bit less. So it will probably last me 2 more months I am thinking but if it keeps me clear I do not care how much it costs!

I know I am rambling - I will stop now!

I found it! I think it was there all the time I just missed it...I think I was looking for a bigger package. I bought two. They were on a sale and there was a tag stating 'making room for newer items' so I am wondering how long Whole Foods will carry this product.

Hmmm - maybe I'll go and pick up some more bars, just in case....

And now you've got me thinking I should try out that MUAC toner!

WurlyLox 09-03-2009 10:33 AM

Is this actual Pomega5 bars ya'll are getting at WF or another similar brand? I didn't see anything that sounded even similar when I was there the other day, but maybe I just wasn't looking for the right thing.

I'm glad you're liking the toner, Xcptnl - I agree it's worth the cost if it continues to work as well as it is. I had two patches that were staying constantly broken out, and now nothing's left except some scars. Even they are finally beginning to fade.
