My name is Ashleigh, I'm 22 and I live in Chicago Illinois
I'm engaged to my high school sweetheart, and our wedding will be next June! I'm a teacher at la petite academy and I love my job! Hobbies, anything artistic & now I'm definitly consumed in all this Curly Girl stuff!
I'm BRAND spankin' new to the Curly Girl world
I was born with a head full of curls, but always dispised them. I wanted stick straight hair and couldn't handle my hair. I always would get compliments on my curls, and I'd roll my eyes and say "yep..curly hair curse".
A couple weeks back, I asked a friend of mine about a hair product and if she had used it. She said she wouldn't, because it had a sulfate in it. She went on to explain the CGM....I was skeptical at first. No shampoo? But how would my hair get CLEAN? It didn't take me long to discover my curly girl guru; Sarah (waterlily716 on youtube) and watch all of her videos, and read her wiki how. Soon, I was researching everything curly girl I could find.
A day later I had stocked up on all the products I thought I'd need via Sarah's videos and advice and I began. I'm just a little over a week into it, and I'm already pretty excited about my hairs response. It's still transitioning..it's a little wild but the curls ARE much softer and more defined. Instead of the lose S they used to be, they have a bunch of bounce to them now. I'm trying REALLY hard to perfect my skipcurl because sometimes they work out and others it just flattens my hair but.. I'm working on it hah I'm also experiencing with the amount of gels, I keep getting crunchy (which I'm not a fan of) so, I'm still in the trial & error phase along with the transitioning hair. I plan to stick through it though, everyone says it WILL be worth it if you just wait it out
In the mean time, I'm loving this moisture in my hair!
I am clueless as to what hair type I am.. I have tried to figure it out but I'm at a loss...anyone have a guess? Here are my "before curly girl" photos, I really am not far enough into it to take after pictures this far, but I'll for sure do that in a couple weeks!
I will admit that these were my "good hair day" pictures. I honestly have about 99% pictures of me with my hair flat irond, because I never took a picture of my locks natural. As you can see on the picture to the right, that day the curl just wasn't there, and the other two it was. My hair changed daily, sometimes bouncy curls other times super stretched out. It was always more curly then wavy, but I'm having a hard time identifying it. I wish it was a 3b hah..but my closest guess would be a 2c or 3a? I really don't know. These just happened to be when it turned out decent. I really can't wait to see how they'll develop through out time with CG
I added my products and current routine into my signature as I saw many of you curlys do! (I'm enjoying reading them, thank you for sharing!) I'm really excited to see a place like this for tips and tricks..and just the common understanding of curly hair! I'm really looking forward to meeting you & "bumping" into you through out the boards
Thank you for any welcomes & advice! <3
