Default What is the right product for me - very thick, course curly hair (3b/3c)??

Hi Curlies,

I am a huge fan of this site; however, I am overwhelmed by the selection of hair products and suggestions available for curly hair. I have very thick and coarse 3b/3c hair and despite reading all of the product reviews and feedback, I am unable to tell what products are best for thick, coarse curly hair. I am currently using Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper with AG Recoil - however, my hair is not as defined as I would like it to be. Especially now that it is summer, can anyone recommend good styling products for thick, coarse 3b/3c hair that will provide definition without being crunchy? Thank you for your input!!!

Welcome, al2017513! Our hair types are different, but I really like LOOB (LOreal Out of Bed) and Ecostyler Krystal. Both give me good definition without much crunch. I'm also a big fan of homemade FSG. The recipe I use is here: No-fail flax seed gel - I finally did it...TWICE! It's really easy to make (15 minutes from start to clean up) and can be adapted to suit my needs and the weather.
3B, fine, normal to low porosity
Modified CG since June 2010
HGs: FSG, anything with glycerin, Tresemme Naturals conditioner, Curls Like Us cloths, satin pillowcases.

I think Kinky-Curly is worth a try for all new beginners. After conditioning (I don't wash) you can use the Knot Today as a leave in to comb my hair out and retain moisture. Then, I use the Curling Custard (VERY LITTLE) for curl definition and to lock in the moisture. I hope this helps.

My daughter, who is forever trying natural hair products, gives great tips: naturallycurlygirlz.com
