Default I'm new and I REALLY need help

Well.....I'm new to this but i'm Kristina and i'm from Florida. I'm bi-racial chic with 3b type hair that i have COMPLETELY ruined. For 26 years i had thin but beautiful curly hair. About 3 months ago i used John Freeda 3 day straight and i used a color oops dye to strip my black hair. I honestly dont know what one did the damage but my hair is NO longer curly. It now seems almost naturally straight. When it gets wet. It doesn't curl anymore. Its super flat. I gets oily which has NEVER happened. To curl is i use flex rods or try and scrunch it and still it just looks wavy. My last resort is an old fashioned perm. I'm desperate. And for about 4 months now i have been stuck with this mess. Is silly and cliche as this sounds i seriously feel like i lost a part of me! Can anyone help me??? I'm desperate

Hi Khrystena1985! Regardless of what causes damage to our hair, it can take some time and patience to reverse the effects. Getting the right combination of moisture and protein is important. Check your products and make sure you're using ones that will hydrate your hair. Sulfate laden shampoos can further strip the hair and dry it out even more. That's why most of us avoid harsh sulfates. Silicones can keep moisture from getting into the hair and most can only be washed out with sulfates. That's why most of us avoid silicones.

There are tons of product recommendations on these boards. Keep reading through the boards - you'll find lots of help here!

I agree with Mhen. It sounds like protein/moisture, but above all protein is the key to getting your curls back. If you can possibly bite the bullet, cut your hair as short as you can stand it, so that you are cutting off a large part of the damaged hair.

I also agree that you would likely benefit from the cg or modified cg method. There's a lot of info on the boards about that.

Good luck - your curls are still there and they'll return if you are patient and gentle with your hair.
