Newly natural for 6 days
Well, the weave came off last Thursday night. I went to the salon on Friday. She colored my hair, deep conditioned it and I left 6 hours later with a head full of braids and twists. And she used gel w/alcohol and no oil. Not what I wanted. My hair is about 7/8 inches long with about an inch of relaxed hair. I trimmed about and inch as did my stylist.
My last relaxer was April 2011. Didn't know I was transitioning. I was experiencing breakage and decided a weave would give my hair a break. I live in Panama, Panama. My husband and I moved here from Minnesota. And while the humidity is great for your skin, the sun is a killer on your hair.
I've watched many videos on You Tube regarding natural haircare. I read articles on a handful of natural hair care forums. I've emptied my wallet purchasing various products that I have used-yet.
1-No one has really laid out the order of how to use the products unless they're recommending what they're using and it's a style-oriented video.
2-If I want a twist out, how long should they remain "twisted."
3-Which products do I use for a wash and go?
4-How often to I moisturize my hair ? Do I use just water or another product? I do sleep in a satin scarf.
5-I work out 3/4 days a week. How do I care for my hair?
I think all of the information I've gathered has paralyzed me from doing anything. I'm scared that I'm not going to apply the correct product and my hair is going to look like crap.
Here are products that I have in my bathroom: Giovanni Direct Leave-in conditioner. Giovanni shampoo, ECO styler Olive gel, Jojoba oil, Virgin coconut oil, Aloe Vera Gel, Aloe Vera Juice, Castor oil, Tresseme anti-breakage conditioner, Olvia Conditioner w/jojoba and silk protein, Organix Moroccan oil, and Organix coconut milk intense repair. I read the ingredient list on line of the last 2 products and I think they're not for me. And since I'm still watching the lovely ladies on You Tube, I was ready to order some more products from Amazon.LOL
So, I hope that the veteran naturals and the newly naturals can help me put together a regime.
I feel frustrated and it's only been a week.
Thanks for your time:-)
