Obsessed?

Has anyone else been told they seem "obsessed" with their hair since stumbling upon this site and learning about your hair? My own mother is a hair dresser and seems super annoyed with me when I bring it up! I am desperate to find a routine that works and can help me go at least a day or two w/o washing my hair and not have to resort to putting it up. But I honestly do feel like I talk about it a LOT. I hope on here and look up reviews for products and search questions I have whenever I have down time. Is anyone else super focused on their hair right now? (P.S. I am off for the summer and don't have kids...jobs and children are not being neglected in this process.)

Hi Polkadotowl (fun name!)! Welcoem to the curlyworld.
Yeah, I think it's fair to say there's been a little obsessing here and there over this site and over curliness in general! Don't worry; we can act as your support group, too!

Thanks! It gets frustrating because hair care seems so easy for so many of my friends. They can torture there hair (in half the time I can, btw) and never seem to suffer for it. I, on the other hand, and deeply regretting how much I flat ironed over the past year. I think they don't want to talk hair because it is just not a big deal to them. Hoping I find an easier and kinder way to do my hair before the next school year starts. I like sleeping in and have always wanted wash and go hair! I am on my third day of trying out this CG thing with the Deva Curl line. Grease city! I hope it calms down before I go back to work...don't wan to gross out my coworkers and students!

i guess i obsess about the CG method. And also since it's summer I've been on here a lot.
as for all the extra oil your scalp is producing, that should settle down in a few weeks, give or take. Just stick it out and don't give in to washing too soon, that will only promote extra oil production.

My mom accused me of obsessing about my hair just today! Because I was making some homemade gels to try out. But really, obsessing over my hair is not me, I'm just in experimentation mode right now. Once I find something that works, I'll form a simple routine around it, and will be happily wash-n-go again. :D

Exactly!

All of this is in an effort to make my life easier so I DON'T have to obsess!

I can totally relate to how you feel! I tend to go through phases where I get really into certain things, and I guess this is my hair phase!

I have always been a nighttime showerer, because I'm terrible at waking up in the morning. Since I finished grad school and started working full-time (almost 5 years ago), I've had trouble figuring out how to make my hair look presentable for work. Ponytails just aren't cutting it anymore, and straightening takes way too long, so I've found my way here.

I really just want something low maintenance that doesn't involve a ton of products or take forever in the morning. That's harder than it sounds! Believe me, I feel your pain angry9:

Yes that is just it! I don't like to spend a ton of time on my hair, so I want to figure out a quick routine and go!:cat:

I freely admit to being hair obsessed, I am on here several times a day, reading and researching. The drawback is I am constantly critiquing my hair, which of course, is never exactly how I want it. :)

I really am overly focused on it (but to be fair, pre CG I was a hair obsessed product junkie). I don't discuss my hair much with others because I can't imagine they'd be interested in the thousands of things I think about my hair each day. :)
