Default Naturally Curly

I have decided to wear my natural hair curly since June, I have only applied heat to it once since then. I have never had a relaxer I have just straightened it and got it cut in layers to help blend the two textures of hair I have on Saturday. I am quite confused as to what to do at this point to it or what my hair type is.... any suggestions?

I am new to natural. I am doing The Curly Girl Method. Look up MahoganyCurls on YouTube. She was my inspiration. It seems to work for a lot of naturally curly haired people no matter the hair texture. I got the book from the library. It is by Lorraine Massey. :-)

Same as me, I have never had relaxer in my hair but I was straightening it for about a year and now the ends of my hair are straighter than the rest of my hair. I also recommend that you do the Curly Girl Method because your curls become really defined and moisturised. It's really easy and quick when you get used to it.

Start at the "HAIR TYPES" link at the top/left of the page here. Your hair properties (porosity, width, density) are more important for choosing products than your curl type. Knowing these will help to know what ingredients will work best for you and lead you to products to try. You can also use your properties to check signatures for others with hair similar to yours and see what products are working for them.

Protein/moisture balance is very important. Knowing your hair's needs will be a great start on this journey.

Good luck and have fun.

Experimenting with too many products to name here. All this great info keeps my head spinning.

I really think the Curly Girl Method will be beneficial to you. From what I've read it's helped to return the hair texture to the state it was in before. It's even helped chemo patients, whose hair suddenly grew in straight after chemo, to return to their curls (per the book....second edition). Again, look up the Curly Girl Method on YouTube and get everyone's testimonies and how it's working for them. That's what I did before making a decision whether to go natural or not.
