Default Newbie in need of major help and advise !

Hello Everyone
Im new here and this is my first posting and I have to say…… I am in urgent need of help and advice !

For the last 28 years I have strictly denied my hair to be its naturally curly self, I have done everything to keep it straight. Mostly due to the fact I was picked on as a kid for it, so have grown up thinking curly hair is a big no no !

However the other day I washed my hair and decided to let it dry naturally, sometime after this I walked past the mirror and was surprised by what I saw….. I think I have been missing a trick here.
My hair was curly and I think it looked quite nice, not a bad hair style for letting dry by its self and letting it do its own thing.

However I know nothing about curly hair or how to maintain/make it look better.

I think they might be a 2C and/or 3A.
What I would like to know is, is there any products I can use to help make the curls a little better/neater ? however I have to be careful what I use as I suffer from Dermatitis on my scalp so I cannot use any leave in conditioners and im reluctant to change my shampoo as the Head and Shoulders for itchy scalp seems to help. Is there any finishing products or conditioners I can use or products I can apply when drying my hair ?

I have a hairdryer and wondering how I can use it and keep my hair curly, would a deffuser help or can I use my hands somehow when blow drying ? Im sorry if this seems like a silly question but I only know how to straighten my hair !

I have uploaded a pic of my curls for you all to see, this is what is looks like if I let it dry on its own.

I really have no clue where to start and need all the advice and help I can get.

Thanks for reading everyone.

a diffuser will definitely help. I have 2c hair and i use it to dry my hair for about 10 minutes, then let it finish by air drying. I straitened my hair til i was 23. Learning to care for curly hair is a process. lol. once you get the hang of it, it's not that difficult. its a lot of trial and error.

started CG on 6/25/12.
  • 2c with a strait underneath
  • normal elasticity on top, none on the underneath
  • Fine side of Normal
  • Thick hair
  • Poriosity is a mystery. I think its all over the place.
