Default New and Love this Site!

Hi all, new curly here.

For years I have been combating my curls, flat irons, "reverse" perms, hide it under a hat! The older I get the curlier I get. When I was young I was a 2A but have progressed to a 3A/B. I never knew how to care for my hair.

I am on day 2 and loving it. My hair has never looked better. Did BS/ACV, then conditioner, dry by scrunching with paper towels then gel then plunking and air dry yesterday. OMG my curls were AWESOME and plentiful and never frizzed once yesterday. I pineappled last night but I am a rough sleeper so I had to mist my curls this morning in the shower. My hair looked great today and I even semi-dried it with the dryer and diffuser with no poof or frizz! What amazed me the most is that I didn't have handfuls of hair come out like I normally do with normal shampoo. None fell out today while misting my hair and putting in a little gel. I swear I will never use shampoo again.

I can't believe how wrong I have been doing things all these years when I could have been enjoying my hair and not worrying about if I looked like a poodle!! I am still testing products and trying to find what I like and what will work for me. But shampoo and mousse are definitely by-gones for me!

Welcome, Soosannah! Isn't it wonderful to find a community who understands us? I so wish I had found it years ago. Fair warning - this site can be totally addicting!

I also must add that you should not be alarmed if you co-wash or low-poo and find a lot of hair coming out. It's normal. We all lose about 100 hairs a day. When the hair is straight, it can easily slide right out. It's on our backs, our shoulders and in our combs. Curly hair can't slide out - it gets tangled up in a curl. Since most of us don't comb or brush, the loose hair stays wrapped around another curl. Once we're in the shower with the hair saturated with conditioner, all those loose hairs can easily find their way to the drain. Don't panic!
