Hi girls! I m new here - 3b curl naturally and growing out hair that I unfortunately used to straighten constantly! Right now I m most concerned about "fixing" the damage I have done and taking care of all my new growth. I've heard soo much about coconut oil and was wondering if anyone uses it for their curls? My hair gets super dry and needs tons of moisture 24/7 any reviews would be super helpful! oooo and natural/pure coconut oil VS generic coconut oil?????

Any other moisturizer suggestions are welcome as well. I just ask about coconut oil cause I d prefer natural products now

Edit: just realized I m not supposed to post questions here! Soooo sorry admin!

Hi ToniM, I am a noob too, and yeah, I use coconut oil once a week to deep treat my curls...I am a fine haired, 2C gal and what I do, is take virgin organic coconut oil, melt it in one bowl (about a 1/3 cup for my long, past bra strap hair) over (in) a pan of hot water. Be careful that it is only melted to room temp! You don't want to burn your fingers, scalp or hair! Don't microwave it to melt it, as that can destroy the nutrients in the coconut oil...

Then, you apply the coconut oil - I put my head over the sink, flip my hair over into the sink, and let it pour in from the nape to the ends, then I kinda massage it all into my dry hair. I let my ends soak in the bottom of the bowl after. I then cover with a shower cap, after which I blow dry the shower cap to keep heat on the hair. I use a mid-heat setting. I do that for ten minutes, then I rest for ten minutes, then I wash and condition and style as per normal.

Results = lovely, perfect, frizz-free curly whirly "S" sses all over my head! My hair loves it I become a 3A after this treatment!

Please note that your hair might not love coconut oil as mine does...there are as many ways as there are people, and all I can do is share my personal experience. I hope it works for you!
