Default 40 something Newbie who is well fed up with her hair

I hate my curls, I use mousse on a daily basis but now I have to find a new product, my hair is hard, wet/greasy looking and stressing me out big time.

Does anyone else use anything other than mousse and have good results.

The hairdressers always try to get me to use new products but they are never strong enough and if my hair doesn't have enough product I end up looking like the hair bear bunch (big and frizzy)

I'm sure someone else out there must be having the same trouble.

Thanks for listening!

I always thought mousse was the product of choice for curly hair. Then I found CG and tried gel. It sounds insane, but many of us get much better results with gel than with mousse (some use a combo of both).

The key to choosing the right products is understanding your hair properties (not so much the curl pattern, but the properties of the hair itself, like texture, and porosity). The website livecurlylivefree.com has a ton of information on how to determine your hair properties.

Once you have an idea of your properties, you can get more specific product ideas by finding people with the same properties and looking at what they use. Many people list this stuff in their signatures, but there's also an entire thread over in the 2s forum called Share Your Hair Biography that can give you a great jump start also.

You might also want to check out some of the stickies on the General Hair and Newbies forums regarding the Curly Girl method (CG) and other tips and techniques to help you make your hair look and feel its best.
