Smile Hello! A newbie is aboard.

Hello everyone. My name is Ashley and I've been transitioning for about a year now. I really want to get into a set regiment for my hair to start taking better care of it. I think I had my epiphany last night while I was finishing up my hair. It just didn't feel right and I had the most horrible guilt straightening it. I'm still having a rough go of it trying to find what products work best on my hair. Everything I seem to use just drys it out and I'm left using (probably) too much moisturizers and oils to combat that. I'm also still trying to determine my hair texture, which seems to be so difficult for me as I'm sure I've caused a great deal of heat damage to my hair.
So, at this point, I really have nothing left to lose and everything to gain. I really just want to be happy with my hair and have doing it be an enjoyment and not a dreaded chore. So, I'm open to learning as much as possible. Hopefully I can get some help along the way from some of you.
