Smile Ciao! :)

Buon pomeriggio!

I'm an 18 year old college curly and new to CurlTalk. I had my hair chemically straightened (relaxed) from 10-16, and in the spring semester of my junior year, a chemistry project inadvertently led me to a website about naturally curly hair. I grew out my relaxer for 8 months, became frustrated with the two textures, and chopped off the rest of the chemically straightened hair on 3 September 2011. I've been relaxer free for almost 15 months now. And I've been CG/silicone and sulphate free for a total of about 3 weeks and loving it.

I have no clue what my hair type is; that system irritates me because my hair isn't as loose as 3b, not quite the same shape as 3c, not the tiny diameter or texture as 4a, but I have characteristics of all three aforementioned types I have very fine strands, so they're downy to the touch and have a good amount of sheen. My porosity is average-low; it can take a while for me to absorb products depending on how wet my hair is. My current regimen is:

DC overnight with avocado mix (1-2 overripe avocados pureed, honey, EVOO, EVCO, grapeseed oil, sesame oil and mayonnaise).

Cleanse with cowash cleanser (2 tbsp VO5 Tea Therapy Calming Chamomile Tea conditioner mixed with 2 tbsp AVJ and a half capful of ACV).

Condition/detangle with TRESemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner (I don't finger detangle; I use a Denman D3 which works well for me).

Leave in moisturiser mix (Carol's Daughter Moisturising Tui Leave In Conditioner, Curls Curl Creme Brulee, EVCO, grapeseed oil, and a splash of AVJ to thicken it a bit) and style with Xcess Styling Gel Sport Hold (just started using this yesterday; love it so far).

I usually keep my hair in twists because I'm lazy and that's easier for me, but I'm loving WnGs, so I might leave mine out for 2-3 days and then flattwist for the rest of the week to keep it out of mind.

Hi and welcome! Glad you're here with us in our curlyworld.

Figuring out your complete Texture Type might help you understand your hair properties better.
