Welcome, Steve. Glad you've joined our community.
I would guess you're a 3b.

Welcome!

Looks like a 3A maybe 3B to me. I think a bit longer hair would look great on you

Thank you all for the information.

I assume from what everyone has told me that my hair type is a mixture of 3b and 3a. I have read most people have a variety of curl patterns in different areas of the head, so maybe mine is a mixture too.

I know I have low porosity from using the flotation experiment but I am still not sure about my width and density. I have been thinking it's fine and medium. Is anyone able to tell what my density and width from the photos I posted???

Thanks!

That particular hair test (float test) isn't very reliable. Lots of people on here have reported that their hair refused to sink, and yet many have found their hair to be medium and/or high porosity. It has more to do with absorption and retention of moisture and products. You can also try the strand "catch" test (how bumpy or smooth strands feel when running finger along it). None of these are perfect tests. Some here send their hair off for analysis to allegedly get a more precise profile.

As for your hair type: I see mostly 3a, some 2b in places, and hints of 3b also mixed in.
