Hi! I am so glad to have found this website.
I am Allison, a 17-yr old student. I enjoy costuming, reading, art, and mythology.
My hair was straight through elementary school, but I got it cropped to chin-length at the end of 5th grade, and it has been one big poof since then. I liked having my hair mermaid long- it looked nice (even though I combed the curls out into waves) but it was such a hassle to take care of, so last year I cut it back to above shoulder. Then I bleached the heck out of it and have dyed it various colours. I'm tired of bleaching (letting my roots grow back and dyeing over that), but the damage has been done.
Up until last week, I thought that I was doomed to live with my poof until it grew out. I found this site three days ago and tried plopping and drying using a t-shirt. What a difference! I have curls again! Bright green curls!
I'm not entirely sure what sort of hair I have. Last week, I would have said 2B. I changed my hair routine, and now I have no clue. Apart from the frizz, I have lots of ringlets that can go around my index finger. They're everywhere and my hair gets dry pretty easily.
Right now I use a Redken shampoo for curls just on my scalp and let it wash through the rest of my hair. I'm trying using it every other day. I also put Argan oil in my hair to keep it from frizzing. I have a random hair gel that I found in my drawer, and after trying it today, it seems to work better than nothing. It's called Fx Curls Up. My hair is dyed bright green with a teal and indigo layer underneath. I use Special Effects hair dye.
I like making my own things. I make some of my own makeup and beauty products already, and I would love to be able to include things that I can make in my hair routine. Also, I find that buying from soapmaking wholesalers is far cheaper than buying from a store.
I am so glad to have found this site! I've learned so much already!
