Default howdy from tennessee!

Hello! My name is Summer, I'm from Tennessee. Our hot, humid summer's here make growing long crazy curly hair like mine quite a challenge (particularly because it's HOT HOT HOT!!!). As a result, despite having been natural for over three years now, i have always kept my hair rather short. Now I've decided I need a change and am growing it out as long as it will go!

My hair can be divided into to two types, with 3b on the upper portions of my scalp and 3a making up the under layers and a little bit of my bangs. My hair is not really coarse in any locations, except for one small trouble spot at the very back of my scalp where it likes to frizz up at the first sign of heat. Mostly, however, my curls are very smooth and very fine black ringlets. While at times I wish my hair was thicker, what it lacks in density it makes up for in volume. I always say my hair "grows OUT, not down!"

6 months ago marks my last official haircut. To infinity and beyond!

Thank you and happy growing! :)

Welcome, summershoe! You'll find tons of info and lots help on these boards on growing your hair out. I like my hair longer in the summer; it gives me versatility and styling options. I like being able to pin it up or pull it back. Enjoy poking around here!
