Default Hi you guyss!!!!!!! :)

Hello Everyone !! My name is Jackie and I'm a 21 year old from Houston, but currently attending college in another city! I am currently 2 & 1/2 months natural, I transitioned with senegalese twists and then big chopped ! What's funny is, i can remember looking at girls who had cut off their hair and never in a million years would I have ever imagined that I would be one of those girls !

I've been getting perms since the delicate age of 3, so I never knew what my hair could be like, and its sad that I never really knew what "natural" hair was, until I watched the season of America's Next Top Model when Bre Skullark was a contestant. I fell in love with her hair , and I asked my mom, if i could do my hair like that, thats when she had to explain to me, why Bre's hair could curl like that! I immediately wanted to go natural, but growing up around mainly caucasian people, I was always too scared. But I'm glad I finally did it !

My texture so far seems to be 4b in the front, 4a in the back, and 4c on the sides, and I've already started finding difficulty in using certain products as they work better or worse depending on what section of my head i'm applying it to. My hair is also extremely dense and thick !

But yeah, as you can tell, I'm super excited about my new journey, and everyone seems so sweet ! Can't wait !

(BTW, here is my before and after pictures <3)

Welcome Jackie! Your hair is looking quite nice since your BC. Do you find that using coconut oil in your hair works well? My hair is dry but thin, so I can only use it as a treatment on my ends for a few hours before washing my hair. However, I think you may have good results using it on dry hair, if you find that your hair needs moisture. I bought a big tub of coconut oil from my local Indian grocery store for only $5!

I'm definitely struggling with the moisture issue right now . I'm not sure if its bc I'm using the wrong products or bc my hair still short and just left the relaxer stage . But I saw some coconut at the African food store so ill try that and see if that can combat my unruly dryness ! Thanks girly !

Thank you so much.! I was terrified to wear my hair so short at first bc I love in such a conservative town but I'm starting to love it more and more everyday ! And my hair is actually surprising me . I was always told that Africans couldn't have curls (I'm Nigerian ), I'm now realizing how much of a lie that is ! Everyone's hair is different no matter where your from . But I will definitely keep that in mind as I continue on my journey !
