2A Newbie here...

Hi All,

I'm a 2A with fine hair, looking to get on the right track for caring for my hair. I have multiracial kids with hair textures ranging from 3a - 4a each of my girls have different texture hair and I just recently learned how to properly care for their hair through some great gals on you tube which have led me here. In the process of caring for their hair I realized I have not taken care of mine. I used to just shampoo and put my hair in a bun and keep going. with time I noticed my hair just got thinner and I attributed it to stress or me just pulling my hair in a bun. I figured that I wasn't really putting any chemicals in my hair so I was fine. Obviously, I wasn't. I even went as far as getting the 2 in 1 to save me from forgetting to condition my hair. Well, I'm here now to learn all I can to get this hair in the best possible condition I can. Looking forward to learning what I can from all the type 2 hair folks.

It's the properties (texture, porosity, etc) that determine products, not curl pattern. Most of the 3a ladies I know (myself included) have hair that is fine in texture, so you might want to start with the same products and then adjust as needed.

When I first started, my routine was pretty much like yours. I used Pantene 2 in 1 once a week, and never conditioned beyond that. My hair was in a perpetual ponytail, even to sleep. When I found the book and this site, I realized my hair was seriously under conditioned. I learned conditioner was my friend. Now I wear my hair down every day and love it! The change was like night and day. This will be true for your kids hair too! Start there, ditch yourcurrent shampoo, and condition, condition, condition. You may also want to trim quite a bit off the ends since they are probably dry beyond repair. I did, good luck!

Thanks chloe92us I have gotten rid of my Pantene 2 n 1. Switched to a sulfate free and paraben free shampoo got a leave in conditioner as well I will keep reading and learning. I have also trimmed my hair even before your post as my ends were looking pretty bad. Thanks again for the welcome and suggestion.
