Hello, all -

I found this site last week, and I'm absolutely addicted. I'm a 2b/2c in PA who didn't know I was a curly girl until I was 29 (thanks, Mom). That was 15 years ago.

Last year, I had neck surgery, and decided it would be easier to manage my hair during my recovery if it was straight, so I had a chemical straightening in February and then a Keratin smoothing treatment in June. It was great at the time, but then I started really missing my curls, so I'm in the process of getting them back.

I get my hair trimmed faithfully, but my hair grows R-E-A-L-L-Y S-L-O-W-L-Y, so I have this awful layer of underneath hair that's just barely curling. It's oh-so-lovely, and I'm potentially getting a BC this Wednesday to try and get a fresher start.

Also, I've been coloring my hair since I was 25. I was a tow-headed little girl who turned into a dishwater-light-brown adult, so I went red after my first son was born, and have never looked back.

But now, having embraced the CG method, I don't want to keep coloring with chemicals and adding damage. I want to improve my curls and grow my hair past my shoulders for the first time in my life. I have my first DevaCurl cut scheduled on Wednesday, and I can't wait.

Annnnnnd ... since I'm getting it cut on Wednesday anyway, I decided now would be a good time to try a henna to see if I can move away from color. I'll post more details and pics once I see how it turns out, but in the meantime, picture a chin length layered bob with just a few waves covered in green mud.

Looking forward to getting to know all my fellow curlies!
